Shanks turned us from  2nd division also rans into one of the most feared sides in football.

He was the right man at the right time and was much more than just a manager, he built a legacy.

The word legend is used to describe far lesser men than Shanks these days, but that's exactly what he is in the truest sense, a legend.

He will always be revered here.

Happy Birthday Boss and rest easy.

Shankly,Stein and Busby were all cut from the same cloth. All three transformed their respective clubs into major world football forces. Ironically it was only Shanks who didn't win the European Cup despite him clearing the path for others to achieve it.

Had we not been cheated in Italy in 1965 he may well have been the first to win it.

You don’t have birthdays after you die.

Well, you sort of do. It's the day in the month of your birth. Same as when you were alive. It's just not that much fun for you now. How many pages of  messages to Ginsoak's family did we get last week? Seems a bit odd to object to this thread. Until they abolish the calendar (a favourite trick of new regimes) the sentiment will remain relevant.
