"We believe the future of football is at a critical juncture," said SAFF president Yasser Al-Misehal.

Yeah, and that juncture is the point where players, worldwide, are run into the ground and become permacrocks to satisfy the greed of the organisations charged with running the game.

Would that mean the Euros change their year, or would UEFA also attempt the same, meaning there is a major tournament every year instead of every second year?

Fuck off, the lot of you!

Lewandowski scored his 41st Bundesliga goal of the season to break Gerd Muller's record of 40 from 1972.

Werder Bremen are relegated along with Schalke. Hamburg went down recently, Kaiserslautern have been in the 3rd tier, Koln are a yo-yo club, and both Gladbach and Dortmund are too inconsistent to pose a title threat to Bayern's dominance. The only way Bayern can fail to win it again is if the players decide they've had enough and can't be arsed any more, and/or if their is infighting amongst the players, coaching staff and the board. The other big guns in Germany are miles off the pace.

BUT BUT BUT the 50 +1 rules will save football

Guarantee that UEFA and ACON will still be held in the other years. So players will just play every summer.

Also add in more FIFA backhanders leading to move sports washing regimes holding the tournament in the winter

But  remember the greedy 6 are ruining football Everton,West HAm,Newcastle,FIFA and UEFA are doing whats needed to save it from everyone else

Clubs around the world should just say no. Just telll them players won’t be released.

The only way it would work is if the bulk of it was played during the season instead of qualifiers. Otherwise, you’d have to shorten the season by getting rid of qualifying altogether; the only plausible way for that would be a closed shop situation where the big teams qualify automatically and the remainder are drawn randomly or perhaps form part of a rotation system where they get in once a decade or so.

I should also imagine that, logistically, you’d need a small selection of fixed locations to host - I could see something akin to the World Club Cup where UAE, Qatar and Japan get the majority of them.

Blackpool v Lincoln it is.

The Sunderland morlocks can scuttle back down their manholes until sunset. Being above ground in daylight must have been hurting their eyes.

Should be a bit of needle in this one. Didnt Appleton, Lincoln's manager, just become Blackpool manager when he jumped ship to Blackburn after about 8 weeks in the job?

Suarez will drag his team to the finish line. Fact.

Doesn't need to at the moment.

Real Madrid need a couple of goals or it's immaterial what happens in the Atletico game. Suarez has basically dragged his team to the top though, and importantly dragged them through their shit patch of the last couple of months. Him, Oblak and Llorente have been ace.
