I think Arsenal have used this approach to keep their wage bill down. They'd rather risk losing some players for undervalue than customarily renew contracts with higher wages with a couple of years to go.

I expect they just judge it from player to player but whereas we seem to increase wages for all players we want to keep they seem to be prepared to take the risk more often.

Surely any new deal for the likes of Sturridge will be significantly less wages. I wouldn't want to be paying Milner more either to be honest. But I don't think he's here next year anyway

Not sure how many your allowed on loan but they could just pay up the Ings money a d make that move now freeing up the loan I would have thought. 

 

If we can get someone in I'd let him go.
