Same thing will happen with game at end of christmas fixtures we'll be coming off back of a battle v arsenal and they'll be coming off a turkey shoot against Southampton.

Only bright spot is it got moved so it is no longer two days after arsenal

I think we get an extra day's rest compared to city too, so that's worth staying positive about.

The way the league is this season , forget 40 points, reckon about what we have should do even if we lost every game. About 70% of fixtures are meaningless. I thought with all the cash about the league would get more competitive but seems to be the opposite

So they are currently on a run of 141 points won out of a possible 159, starting with a 4-game winning streak to end the 16/17 season. That means they need 9 points from the next 4 games to have maintained 100-point form over 1.5 seasons. Fucking outrageous.

Worth noting for context as well that Arsenal "only" managed 90 points in their unbeaten 03-04 season.

It is ridiculous and I'm convinced that if it continues the Premier league will do something about it.

It's not just winning every game, they are destroying every team now.

Be interesting to see if more than one team goes unbeaten through this season if alarm bells start ringing then!

Imagine if City, ourselves and Chelsea go unbeaten, but City still piss the league by 8 or 10 points! Surely the fact that 3 teams do in one season what only 2 teams had done in the previous 120 years would indicate that the game needs a root and branch overhaul!

Saying that, in the 90's and early 2000's teams started doing the double pretty regularly, and nobody took notice then.

They did but the points spread in league was much, much more even.

The old division one was more competitive than what we have now.

When we won our last title in 1990 we won it with 79 pts - same 20 team league, 38 games - 3 pts for a win....because teams in mid table gave us and our challengers bloody noses every so often.

Even in the era of PL you mention look at the pts hauls below that the teams who finished 1st and 4th got...

1st and 4th by pts from 1996-2004

1st 82....4th 63
1st 75....4th 68
1st 78....4th 63
1st 79....4th 67
1st 91....4th 67

1st 80....4th 68
1st 87....4th 71
1st 83....4th 67
1st 90....4th 60

Financially doped up cunts.

This is it and not enough is made of it. Those cunts giving Sterling 300k per week indirectly ends up costing us money. The club's not funded by oil need to stay competitive and that means Mane's next contract is more expensive because of these cunts. If they hadn't paid Yaya Toure 240k 10 years ago then we would be nowhere near the level of wages we are at now and not a single footballer would complain.

I actually said to my mate yesterday that I wouldn't be surprised if we went unbeaten all season but City still won the league.

Huddersfield v Fulham.

Can there be a less enticing fixture in the PL. Race to the bottom

I'm over the weekend we play the mancs, taking in Huddersfield - Newcastle for an appetizer. Now that will probably be worst game I've ever seen live in England, but fuck it. Probably the last chance to see Rafa, if he isn't gone by then.

Was somewhat sceptical about Guardiola at Bayern given his European roastings (relative to the absolute great managers that is), but his work at City so far is a masterpiece. Yes, they’ve spent money — but they always spent before, and arguably in even greater proportions than the surrounding competition have spent now. His net spend won’t be dissimilar to Mourinho’s — but just look in the difference there. He is just a master of a progressive brand of football that almost nullifies  every single opponent but the most exceptional, even missing their best player in De Bruyne — although it can invite a lot of risk if employed at the highest level (see: City vs us in Europe; Bayern v Barca/Madrid)
