And there we go

Liverpool have reportedly given up their chase for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita for the current transfer window.

According to Dominic King of the Daily Mail, the Reds have accepted the Bundesliga side's decision not to sell the player, with bids worth £57 million and £66 million already rejected.

"Keita wanted to come to England and was desperate to play for Klopp, but Liverpool are now actively pursuing other targets to bolster their midfield, having come to terms with the fact that any more offers to Leipzig would have treated the same," continued King.

He hasn't told us anything there Melissa Reddy hadn't tweeted 3 days ago.

I've seen us live through the sales of Torres, Suarez, Mascherano, Alonso, Owen, McManaman, Rush, Beardsley, Souness, Barnes, Hyypia.

Things worked out.

I've seen the likes of Dalglish, Gerrard, Carragher, Hansen, all retire.

Things worked out.

I'm not going to lose my shit over Phil Coutinho, however good he's been to watch, he's not even within a length's distance behind the likes of Suarez, Alonso, etc.

And Ive seen us live through the sale of Hunt, Keegan, Clemence and things worked out. But, that wasnt the gist of your original post so dont start shifted goalposts now.

But, but, David Maddock reckons we're going to bid £70m. Next week.

Seriously, we as a club must drive half of the clickbait on the internet.

Sheesh not sure if it's a case of money talks and bullshit walks and we're world class walkers.

Or look to pursue unattainable targets on purpose to make it look like they are making an effort but really to keep the cash and buy a yacht the size of Texas.

Or we're just so unimaginably horseshit at transfers that's it's fucking painful.

Probably the third option.

We do not "actively pursue" anyone. When it comes to transfers we have a number of different clusterfuck strategies. We announce to all and sundry that we are chasing player a - but don't approach the said player's club formally, thus pissing off that club. We then make a humiliating apology, making ourselves look like the pathetic small time amateurs we are in the transfer market. We then skulk away.

Alternately there is the lowball strategy...bidding well below what the selling club wants. We then walk away when the selling club laughs in our faces for our attempts to take the piss...."oh but at least we tried" then will be heard from some...

Fuck off with that shit. We are still lacking in key areas, and the start of the season is only a couple of weeks away.

*awaits someone to come along and tell us to stop being hysterical fannies and all is well

Stop being a hyster...... Nah can't do it, we're like a 60 yr old boss who spends all summer wooing the fit 28 yr old in the office, then when it finally comes to sealing the deal he can't get it up. He mumbles something about it never happening to him before, tells her he's sorry then makes his excuses and leaves.

Hahahaha 'the sale of clemence'....he was 33 and his best was behind him.

'The sale of Hunt' again about 32 and his best days gone...fella went to Bolton ffs and played in the 2nd and 3rd division.

If you are gonna use the sale of players to prove a point about how life goes on when you lose your best at least use examples of players at at best when sold.

I have to laugh when people mention selling players and is still being successfull.

In those days, we were top of the tree and usually it was us who decided when we sell the player and it was usually when we had rung him out for all he was worth and as the saying went " his legs can go on someone else pitch"

Nowadays, players are leaving for totally different reasons so it's bollocks to compare like for like. You could say the influx of foreign players doesn't help but, guess what? If we were winning, or at least competing for honours, some may have stayed?

The fact is, we don't win things anymore and until that changes, we will continue to be a stepping stone and I can't see it changing under this ownership

Back then 99 times out of 100 leaving lfc meant you were moving down.

Oh for those days to return

You can't blame players for wanting to leave a club who have won 1 trophy this decade and hardly qualified for cl....of course mediocre players ala Lovren arrive here and see us as the pinnacle of their careers and think they have made it and that is a problem too...

Excatualy the way it worked mate a player went down a peg when he left and also they would walk here to sign for us because success brings that, selling the best player in the team and not investing just makes us what we are becoming a selling club thats lacking ambition.

Mixture of 2 & 3.

When, as an ownership, you are happy to sit on your little nest egg acquired at a bargain price & deprive it of any serious investment, and then to compound matters you hire an EA Sports exec whose opening salvo on greenhouses is more Dr Seuss than Shankly, good things are not bound to happen.

You really are a stupid bellwhiff, arent you? This is what your mate funnnnneeee used as an argument. And seeing as you got confused about all the meanings of 'argument' previously I suggest you look it up this time instead of spouting your usual bollocks.

Do yourself a favour and learn the meaning of context.
