  1. They are more likely to go bust first than they ever are of going down. Last year was the year and Maddison the galaxy high headed twat failed. He's a disgrace.

  3. It's a real shame - I'm gutted that we didn't get to see the best of him, though his contribution to the season we just missed out on the CL again should not be overlooked (but I'm sure it will be). I remember him having to do the work of three midfielders while the other two gobshites phoned it in. He's been a class act off the pitch too, mentoring many of the youngsters and the Spanish speakers who have joined us. Some things just don't work out, but there were enough special moments to populate many a highlights reel, so I'll console myself with those.

  4. I've dealt with a lot of homeless people, both in my work and living in central London, and in my experience the vast majority are mentally ill, with any substance addictions being a symptom of that. Any lifestyle 'choice' they make to spend their lives getting obliterated, eating food from bins and sleeping outside shop doorways isn't the choice of someone who's in any real position to make those decisions. They need help, in the same way that any severely mentally ill person needs help. Criminalising them would be an exercise in futility.

  12. Never understood this way of thinking. He didn't sign himself. I get the impression he likes the club. He's clearly class and he's clearly injury prone. It just didn't work out. We gambled and lost. When he did get a run of games he was absolute quality.

  14. That is exactly why I am not at all bothered who comes in because no one can replace him. It is just not possible because not only he is a genius of a manager with limited budget, he is such a great positive human being with the sort of aura that just does not exist with anyone else. I include Fradiola in that.

  15. We’ve gone years not having to think twice about who is our next manager and now the reality is sinking in that Klopp is irreplaceable. Unless Guardiola miraculously tips up then it’s hard to believe any of the current candidates could fill his boots. I hoped Alonso would have stepped up but now he’s out I don’t much care . I know next to squat about the rest of the names mentioned so will be relying on blind faith and beer to get me through next season and probably beyond.

  18. Monday Mar 25: It was the legends game at the weekend. They’re not for me, I’m not a fan of them personally but they seem to make a lot of people happy so that’s sound, each to their own. There was a full house for the game and loads of money was raised for charity, while fans got to see some old favourites and some former players got to play at Anfield again. So it’s all good, it’s just something I want to watch. I did put it on for the last few minutes though just to see Sven at the end, and I was pretty choked up. The older I get the more sentimental and emotional I’m becoming and I could easily have cried watching Sven out there at the end. I didn’t, but only because I made an effort not to. He fucking loved it didn’t he? Such a nice experience for him to have and well done to the club for sorting that. It’s also easy to get all sniffy about some of the ‘legends’ and yeah, fair enough, Nabil El Zhar is kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel, but it’s necessary. You’re never going to get 15 or 16 of our greatest ever players, that’s not how it works. So if Gregory Vignal, Mark Gonzalez and Bjorn Kvarme get a game, who’s arsed really? They played for us, they tried their best and if they’d have been good enough they’d probably have wanted to stay here for the majority of their career, so in that regard this is nice for them to come back I think. I’d rather watch them than that fucking Torres rat anyway…. You may recall that I mentioned last week how we beat City in the u21 league. Turns out they showed up at our training ground for that game in the first team bus, which is emblazoned with all of the trophies they cheated their way to last season. I’d like to know if they use that bus to travel to all of their games or if that’s just the latest example of how obsessed they are with us. Soft cunts. Staying with them and their cheating, the M.E.N ran a story over the weekend that’s a little disturbing, as clearly it was fed to that Simon Mullock stooge by City. It was along the lines of how Etihad Airlines are floating on the stock exchange or something, which means they need to make their accounts public. Why is this relevant? Well remember those Der Spiegel leaks when City’s emails were hacked? Some of the most incriminating stuff was how their sponsors were not actually paying the bulk of the money. It was being paid by the Sheik. I don’t remember the exact figures, but the emails showed that Etihad were sponsoring City for massive money, but were only having to pay £8m and the rest of it would be covered by Mansour. We know this is true because why the fuck would City be sending emails saying that kind of thing and potentially incriminating themselves if it wasn’t true? So it’s a bit of a co-incidence that NOW, after all these years, Etihad are suddenly making this move which will oh so conveniently make their accounts public just in time for City’s hearing with the PL. Those accounts are going to be doctored as fuck, we all know it. If Etihad cook their books, who are they answering too? The state. Who runs the state? The same people who run Man City. This being leaked to the M.E.N. and the smug tone of the piece makes me think this is just the start of the shit they’re going to pull to cheat their way out of these charges. How can the PL prove any of this if all the companies who sponsor City can just show false accounts because the Abu Dhabi tax office is not going to give a fuck? They’re going to beat these charges because how can you take on a nation state? The only way to stop City is for the other clubs to forfeit games against them. They should have done it years ago, but if they blag their way out of these charges then it needs to happen. Meanwhile, Richard Keys says Alonso to Liverpool is agreed and that if he was a Liverpool fan he’d be excited. That’s me convinced anyway. Seriously, obviously he knows nothing because whatever talks are taking place will be kept completely under wraps. Liverpool in particular are pretty fucking great these days at playing their cards close to their chest, and Xabi and his agent aren’t going to be running their mouths to people who Keys know either. So Keys knows nothing, which puts him in good company alongside that Pletigoal fraud from Sky Germany.

  20. Watching Arsenal here, and dont think I’ve ever seen a player dictate the refs the way Odegaard is doing. He just literally instructed the ref to give a free kick, and the latter obliged. He moans, whines, shouts and waves his arms constantly, and probably runs two extra miles per match only to make sure he’s in the ear of the ref at all times. When he’s really on form he throws himself to the ground screaming and shouting like a little child. He’s worse than Fernandez imo, and still immune to receive yellow cards. Unreal.

  24. Use the Sir Roger method Add 2 hours to the later kick off ( 8.15 for City ) and set your phone for 10.15pm when you go to BBC Sport and tut quietly to yourself when you see the 2 results, but as you assumed it would happen anyway it hardly disturbs your equilibrium for more than a minute or two.

  28. Must confess to a wry smile when I hear the City and Arsenal fans media apologists bemoaning their injuries, especially last week. Walker and Stones injured for England - yet Stones was on the bench at the weekend, and they just happen to have a £77m defender lying around twiddling his thumbs. An Arsenal fan was moaning about their injury list recently - Timber (not proven at PL level), Zinchenko (weak link), Tomiyasu (yeah, exactly), Jesus (ha!). We started Sunday with just one of what was our first choice back 5 at the start of the season. We had virtually a whole team (including world class players) out until quite recently. The position we're in - when you consider the lengthy injuries to Alisson, Matip, Trent, Robbo, Tsimikas, Thiago, Curtis, Gravenberch, Jota (twice), Bajcetic, Doak - is nothing short of phenomenal. I've some sympathy with Newcastle and even United (stop laughing at the back!) who have genuinely suffered from lengthy injury lists (mostly to shit players, mind) - but look where they are.

  32. Opting out? They don't have a choice! The massive majority of people that are homeless are either suffering from mental illness or have been through a major life trauma. The rise in tent cities is being caused by the growing gap in wealth inequality. Living in a tent and getting off your nut all day is a symptom, not a cause.

That’s why this is a real issue, https://www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/what-london-assembly-does/questions-mayor/find-an-answer/police-attending-mental-health-calls Police will no longer attend serious mental health calls, as they believe it should be social services and the NHS. If only they could find a common theme on why they’re underfunded, demonised and severely lacking in joined up thinking and leadership?

  43. I don't think the formation matters at all. We've played large parts of this season with effectively 343 with the ball and as we have the ball 70% of the time, we're as good as 343 anyway. They're just numbers to me. Players are flexible these days. The important thing from my perspective is to be able to have a style of play that enables us to get the most out of the players we have. We've a lot of players who are at their best when we play with a high intensity. So we just need a coach who can embrace that. I don't know enough about any of the candidates really to know who's the best fit to follow klopp, but everything about the way we use data will be used to identify that. I also think that emotional way of playing football, really suits us as a fan base. It's become enjoyable watching the reds again, something I don't think we had for a long time. I know winning is a part of that, but the style is too. We had plenty of wins and good nights under houllier and benitez, but all the best times were the rare occasions they tried to harness the crowd to bring emotion to the game, when mostly they played sterile, controlling football. For me, I want a coach who can embrace heavy metal football. The rest of them can fuck off.

  44. Watching this game back, with the benefit of replays etc, confirmed that the performance of the officials was, if anything, worse than it seemed in the stadium at the time. It was the best example of applying different rules to each team - or at least different thresholds for the challenges. If it was even handed we’d have had 2 penalties. The faint arm by Mac on the shoulder was nowhere near as much of a foul as the tug on Darwin moments earlier. Likewise, Mo going down over Dunk’s legs in front of the Kop was more of a foul than the similar challenge by Mac seconds later on Baleba(?) in midfield. Neither were fouls but it’s the lack of consistency and even-handedness. And how come linos can spot a big toe being offside (Diaz here, Mo at OT), yet that cunt on Sunday didn’t spot that Dunk was well offside for that header which Kelleher pushed away for a corner… which could have led to a goal, which then would have counted. An extension of the death from a thousand cuts which certain refs deploy against us was on display here….. giving us a non-existent advantage when we clearly would get more benefit from a free kick. Taylor does this…. against Newcastle, when he should have given us a free kick and given Joelinton a second yellow. Instead he gave us ‘advantage’ when we had 2 attackers versus their five defenders and the momentum had gone. Quansah and Bradley brilliant again. I’ve said before, the difference between Bradley and Trent is that the former clearly enjoys the defensive work, relishes it, whereas it looks like a chore for Trent, a necessary evil but he’d rather spend his time pinging passes. Mac Allister - complete performance, excelling in every aspect of the midfield role.
