I'd sell Alonso, give Lucas his chance, and we also have Gerrard and Plessis that can play there. I'd spend the £15m on an attacking player, that money could have bought as Modric.

He'd be very good next to Masch, but it's not as if we are buying Barry while in turn missing out on a strictly attacking player, he is a Fabregas-esque centre midfielder from what I've seen.

Dossena, Barry and Degen in the bag then. Who's next? Probably Milner. Maybe Riera after that, but probably not. Maybe Downing if we caln palm off a bunch of kids on them. No "big names", that's for sure.

 

Only one of Milner, Riera, Downing would be targetted for that left side.

 

The big question is who will be purchased for the offensive option for Dirk's role.

Yes. And that's because we have failed to find a decent link man or right sided player in years. I'd still prefer to see Gerrard in an offensive role next to Mascherano.

If we get our new fullbacks, stick Barry in the middle and get one more attacking player (not Milner) then I think that will be enough to put in a 'challenge'.
