Playing for Spain in the under-19 European Championships thats being televised on Eurosport

 

They played there first game the other day and he started at rightback. He was quality, 2nd best player on the pitch only second to a centre forward who got a hat-trick. Looked miles better than Pique who has already played for United.

 

I hope he does well for his 2 year "loan" spell and we have got a fixed buy back.

 

Spain play Scotland tomorrow (Thursday), not sure if it's on TV again but it might be worth a watch to see if he can keep the form up.

Aye. I think he's basically intended to be Stevie Finnan's replacement when the time comes - with the added benefit of being already acclimatised to the club, but having gained a few years top-flight experience.

He's a great talent and will be our first choice right back in a few seasons.

 

The talk of him being homesick was overblown, imo. If he was, I doubt he would have allowed that buy back clause. I think he's just hungry to play in the first team, but he's not going to get that with us just yet.
