Exactly,  if the original 12 club's say to their respective leagues / governing bodies "we no longer want to take part in your competition" what exactly can the governing bodies do? They can't force club's to take part surely.

Haven't read the original article. I'm guessing possibly a non compete agreement or damage to the "UEFA" brand. Take everything with a pinch of salt but you would expect litigation to be on the cards.

The next big issue could be the club vs country angle. If national FAs play hardball and say that players who play in this new league can't represent their country, will that lead to transfer requests from players who value representing their home nation? Or will money trump that desire?
