Like I said earlier,Rap is a whole different form of art/music/culture and deserves it's own tournament. Its not comparing apples to apples when comparing them to traditional artists.

Why, it is what it is.

Bluegrass is a whole different art/music/culture, so are guys with big taches singing barbershop quartet.

Mos Def right up there for me too, love that guy. Did you see that Talib Kweli podcast I posted a while back Paul (unsure of your interest in those things)? Interesting run through of his history.

Dunno, he's pretty great throughout Aquemini and Stankonia (leads Rosa Parks and So Fresh, two of the bigger hits). Always think of Big Boi as the better producer though.

Yes mate. I dipped in. Probably chose a weaker episode to start with though. Can you recommend a good one for me to go again please mate?

I agree to a point. However, the same could be said of soul, funk or disco artists. As most of these votes and discussions suggest, many people voting (and I’m generalising here) aren’t fans of and don’t know much about black musical genres. There is a “rock” (for want of a better word) bent to the whole thing. The fact that the only (I think) jazz artist is a white fella is crazy.

So in short, I’m pleased to see hip hop artists in here (regardless of my view of their quality) because it broadens the discussion. Stig has manfully thrown off his racist roots and created easily the best and most interesting tournament so far by including a broader musical palette. So nice one Stig (as well as nice one for actually going to the effort regardless; it’s got huge ball-ache-for-the-organiser potential, this).

No probs mate. It's good to see proper debate without the 'cunt' word being thrown round constantly.

It's the first democratic one. Stig had no more choice than anyone else for a change.

Right. Well either way, he’s at least organised the whole thing, so kudos. I don’t think anyone’s put this much effort into the GF since the golden, halcyon days of the RF.
