I want to vote against Skynyrd because Freebird is one of my most hated songs but The Ramones sound like a group of mentally challenged toddlers let loose on some musical instruments so I've gone with the rednecks.

I think like Stairway with Zeppelin, Freebird gets a bad wrap from overplay on the radio. I love the Live versions they have done of it.

The proper pre crash Skynyrd where on the verge or greatness imo.

Everyone was just getting into it as a band and the addition of Steve Gains was a game changer. Brought something new to the other guitarists and would have ended up doing a lot of vocals and song writing. You can see the respect Ronnie van Zant had for him. First album with the band and he's already got vocal duties, he is listed as a song writer on many of the songs.

I love Skynyrd personally, the southern rock sound is my thing.

Stairway to Heaven is a beautifully crafted song though, Freebird is a couple of verses then several minutes of mindless fret wankery.

Having said that, some of their other songs are good, Simple Man & Tuesday's gone especially.

Maybe if the shitkickers had shown Neil Young a bit of respect, they might have got more votes.

What disrespect

Even Neil Young says there was nothing in it. The lyrics where a pure reaction to Neil Young songs that they felt where a shot at everyone from the South.
