They move tanks all time. Anyone who has used the motorways regularly will have seen that. The army are ready, leave has been cancelled, but it would seem unlikely they're sending the tanks in anywhere. We need to be more concerned if they were erecting massive tents to be temporary hospitals or something.

It's the same tanks, we have 3.

London braces for lockdown

Sources close to the Mayor's office say they expect a shutdown of the capital in the coming days.

Legislation in the Coronavirus Bill would give the Government emergency powers to "close premises" and "restrict or prohibit events and gatherings", including restricting transport networks.

people to avoid pubs and restaurants and to work at home is being ignored in large numbers." There is alarm in Whitehall that Boris Johnson's call for people to avoid pubs and restaurants and to work at home is being ignored in large numbers.

Trump announced the U.S. and Canada will close the border to non-essential traffic to control the coronavirus outbreak

Wow, lots of conspiracy theories! The real scary thing about this is just how quickly and easily the world has been caught out by a virus that in the scheme of things, doesnt have a particularly high mortality rate.

You can look at the pandemics through recorded history that wiped out millions and this doesnt come close, even if it is in its early stages.

Depends how much you depend on stats and from whom but China has reported only 1 new case for the 2nd consecutive day. Even Italy is showing a slow down in fatalities.

Everything is crashing, literally, around your ears be that public sensibility, stock markets, currencies and commodities.

How could the world get caught out so easily?

I doubt very much you'll see tanks on the streets. As you say, they are moved about all the time due to exercises or it could be that they are moving them to strategic areas to protect warehouses and other important facilities should a lock down become necessary. Unfortunately things need protecting as people are cunts at the best of times, even worse when panic sets in. I've seen quite a few military helicopters flying about over here of late, mostly during the late hours and in the night. In such circumstances Governments have to prepare for all kinds of scenarios and it's part of the military set up to aid in this, it doesn't mean they'll be used in large numbers, but if they aren't prepared to react it would be chaotic and pure negligence on the Governments behalf.

I imagine it'll end up being more than a month, maybe six weeks. Then we'll do the same again in November/December in the hope that by March/April there will be a vaccine.

Seems the only way of preventing millions dying and also not completely crashing economies.

I think tanks on the street are the least of people's worries. Hardly anyone in the UK is self sufficient any more. We mostly depend on the supply chain to keep us going be that heating, water to food. Very few people are able to source their own food, good luck catching rabbits, ducks and fish to keep food in your belly.

From Richard Horton, editor of The Lancet :

Quote

After weeks of inaction, the government announced a sudden U-turn on Monday, declaring that new modelling by scientists at Imperial College had convinced them to change their initial plans. Many journalists, led by the BBC, reported that “the science had changed” and so the government had responded accordingly. But this interpretation of events is wrong. The science has been the same since January. What changed is that government advisers at last understood what had really taken place in China.

Indeed, it didn’t need this week’s predictions by Imperial College scientists to estimate the impact of the government’s complacent approach. Any numerate school student could make the calculation. With a mortality of 1% among 60% of a population of some 66 million people, the UK could expect almost 400,000 deaths. The huge wave of critically ill patients that would result from this strategy would quickly overwhelm the NHS.

The UK’s best scientists have known since that first report from China that Covid-19 was a lethal illness. Yet they did too little, too late.

With the state of the roads with potholes, they might be the answer

Because for the majority of the last 40 years the prevailing attitude of countries like ours has been to prioritise profit over everything else and largely been run by politicians who have been bought and paid for by sociopaths who don't care who lives, dies or is damaged as long as they make a profit?

I work with ventilation and house climate controle and ive yet to see a single system that cant shut off the recycle off 100% so where are you getting this info from ? especially when its hot outside, you dont use any of recycle air. So where is the information coming from that they all use the bypass damper to recycle the air ?

You do realize that if no one did anything, millions of people would die from this?

I think a cure using currently used drugs looks like the best hope of an early resolution.
