Oxlade Chamberlin has serious serious pace. We need this. I'd be happy enough with this signing. Just like Mane last year.  Don't really care about the price, he fits the profile of the team. We have spent fuck all in the last couple of years.

Would also be a massive statement of intent getting virgil van dijk, he is a super player. Gives us more genuine recovery pace at the back which always helps for a team that pushes up like us.

Chamberlain's a crock. Mad signing.

He didn't look too crocked last night. Showed a fair bit of pace and played the full 90 mins

That's said I am not enthused at the prospect of him coming to us even though undoubtedly do need more strength in depth,

I thought about this yesterday and I concluded that we should steer clear of England internationals,  . Forget the inflated price for a moment it's the distraction the England commitment causes for those players in the PL,  The media frown on players that put club before country and what happens in England games can affect a players performance for his club. There is also the fact the best players get over used when on England duty, Friendlies are no longer kick-abouts and wannabe managers like Hodge and now Southgate couldn't give a fuck about the players fitness for next weeks crucial PL game. I know foreign players still have to fulfil international duties but there isn't the same degree of pressure being away from their home country and we don't seem to see the same number of players coming back fucked . We are without Lallana now because he was over used by Southgate in the last round of internationals against no mark opponents. The FA have no sympathy and are quite happy to fill their coffers on the back of the clubs employees.  I also think this is a big factor in why the top clubs shy away from bringing through more English players . We already have enough without buying Oxlade, decent player that he is.

We have to have 8 home grown playerd

Clyne

Milner

Alexander Arnold

Lallana

Henderson

Sturridge

Ings

We have to get a few English players in the squad or we will have to name youngsters as part of the squad again. Players like Ojo and Woodburn dont need ti be named due to age but unless we sign English players they'll have to named in both Domestic and European squads. Especially with Sturridge likely out the door and God knows what happens with Ings

Don't have to have 8 home grown players in the Premier League squad. You just cannot have more than 17 non home grown players in the squad.

This season we named a 22 player squad, with just 7 of those being home grown. City named a 20 man squad, with just 4 home grown players.

EDIT: You also don't have to have 8 home grown players in the squad for European competitions. 8 spaces in your squad are reserved for local players, but if you don't fill that quota, then your squad size is reduced by the number of 'missing' local players.

UEFA

Who can be on List A?

A maximum of 25 players, two of whom must be goalkeepers. There are a minimum of eight places reserved exclusively for 'locally trained players'. If a club have fewer than eight locally trained players in their squad, then the maximum number of players on List A is reduced accordingly.

What's a 'locally trained player'?

There are two categories:

1. Club-trained players – players who were on a club's books for three years between the ages of 15 and 21;

2. Association-trained players – players who were on another club's books in the same association for three years between the ages of 15 and 21. No club can have more than four association-trained players among their eight nominees on List A.

Not sure Allan will

He has only played 450 mins in 10 games for Berlin this year amd will be very lucky to get a work permit

Ward i like but if Ming stays and that looks likely now unless Karius is sold or loaned out (Send him to Wagner and Huddersfield maybe) then Ward will be hard pressed to stay. He wont want tol either.

Gomez seems nowhere near the squad at the moment and looked very shaky in the cups. Id loan him out to the Championship so he plays each week

Chamberlain is a good player. Definitely would not mind having him at the club if the price is right. He's done well in central midfield for Arsenal whenever he's had a chance of playing there, and we need good central midfielders as well as pacey players who can play wide. The Ox fits the bill.

Karius was a first choice Bundesliga keeper before he came here, I can't see him being happy to sit on the bench again next season?

The only way we will get Van Dijk is if we get a big fee for Sakho. We could maybe even offer Sakho plus £20 million?

Sakho plus 40 million would be closer to it.

Possibly but he's working with a manager like Klopp and the 25000 to 35000 a week might convince him to stay.
