If he was called Barry O'Bummer you wouldn't give him the time of day, you Kodi generation mong.

I knew that the idea of a Muslim socialist in charge of the team would be too much for some people, but I believe in a principle, and that principle is the following: Nobody is bigger than the country.

I give you The Liverpool Way's new favourite second team - Swindon Town.

Not a lot on today football wise, the German netflix of Sport I use are showing the Swindon game, so I'll probably watch that and hope that Sherwood gets off to a shit start. R. Ireland game V Austria on later followed by Spain v Macedonia. Bit of rugby in between or running on a different feed on mute, day sorted.

It seems to be an especially dull round of European qualifiers.

Not many so called big games on, France v Sweden last night probably being the only one, although I do think the Austria V R Ireland game will be worth a watch. Croatia V Iceland and Wales v Serbia are also tempting.

I must be bored, Swindon game finished so I'm watching Kerala v Chennai in the Indian league atm. 0-1 after 27 minutes. Steve Coppell is the Kerala manager, come on Chennai, which is actually the birthplace of my late mother.

Think I'll stick with it, the quality is not as bad as thought it would be. Plus Commentary is in English.

Edit: The quality on show is actually a lot better than Swindon v Charlton.

They're showing South Africa v Senegal on BT Sport. The South Africans went in 2-0 up at half time, scoring twice in the last 5 minutes of the half. The first was from a penalty given for handball. The ball was nowhere near the player's hand, even watching in real time. Every replay showed how badly wrong the officials got it. It's still not the worst bit of officiating I've seen in African football though. That was when the Algerian goalkeeper went nuts and headbutted the ref for giving a penalty (legit), and the ref merely booked him when it was a straight red offence. The goalkeeper got a second yellow for a needlessly aggressive challenge later in the game. I think CAF and FIFA suspended the player so he missed out on the World Cup in 2010, and the ref got demoted or whatever it is they do to shit African referees.

Kerala beat Chennai 3-1 in the end.

I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed that and as I said above, the quality on show was better than most Championship teams. Plus the crowd, fuck me, must have been 60.000 in the stadium and they were at it the whole time. Coppell can still kiss my arse.

Nice to see Marco Materazzi cutting his management teeth away from the glare of the European shit rags.

Im a fan of Goa Fc not Steve Copell FC

Funny, but he managers Kerala and not Goa mate. Goa are managed by Zico. I didn't know this as I'm not an avid watcher of Indian football, but because they mentioned him on commentary and the fact Goa are bottom of the league. I shall be watching more of the league though, well I will if nothing else is on.

I'm now onto Coventry v Scunthorpe, and yes, it is shite.

I managed about 15 mins of a Goa game when i was over there.

Not a bad life for Zico or Copell, getting a wage and the chance to live there

I should really get over to Chennai, still got one or two relatives from my mothers side who live there. They are always asking for me to pop over, but I'd rather make something like that a long holiday (like 4-6 weeks at least) if and when I can manage it. Unfortunately it is just out of my price range being as we have three kids. Maybe's when the young lad is all grown up we can all get over there to see where part of our heritage came from and to take in the culture etc.

It's definitely something we are looking to do in the future. I only wish I had done it before the kids came about and we had plenty of money. As the economical surge in India rises it is only going to become more expensive to undertake such a trip.

That'll do

Need them, Pompey and Bradford for 9/1

Your bet is looking good, 3-0 and 1-0 up against 10 men and I can't see Coventry scoring.

As a side note, I rarely venture below the Championship for my football fix but it is hard to see how Coventry and the likes are surviving when you see a decent stadium that empty. It's a crying shame to see as a fan of the sport.
