My favourites:

Beyond the Aquila Rift

Shape Shifters

Helping Hand

Lucky 13

The Secret War

Sonnie’s Edge

Zima Blue

S2

The Tall Grass

All Through the House

Pop Squad (Seriously… amazing)

Snow in the Desert (again… amazing)

Life Hutch

Just started watching these and started on the second season. Snow in the desert was amazing. This is the future of film and its getting very difficult to be sure of what's real on screen anymore. The quality of cgi and animation is on another level.

The santa one was really good.

The Santa one was great. I’m going to show my nieces that! I have my reputation as an evil uncle to keep up.

The Tall Grass was very Lovecraftian. The protagonist looks a bit like Lovecraft and I re-watched the beginning of it to see if it had a name tag on his travel trunk, half expecting to see HP Lovecraft on there.

I finished watching The Get Down on Netflix yesterday.

Some great disco and early hip hop tunes throughout which certainly get the foot tapping away furiously.

Acting is OK but it has a fine fettle of a young leading lady, Herizen Guardiola, and the acting is OK but for me, it was all about the music.

6.5 disco balls out of 10

That was so fucked! I have a feeling Vlad isn't going to like that one!

I've just finished series 1 and felt it was very hit and miss.Slightly more shit than hit but when it was good it was very good. It's a great concept and with better stories and less guns and war shite it would improve no end.

Will give series 2 a go as it deserves a bit more of a watch. Paradoxically, while I think anime is a bit shit the Japanese stories worked very well and more so than one or two of the US ones too.

'less guns and war shite'. So, basically, it's the subject matter. If you don't like guns or war stories then you're going to not like it, although it doesn't make it shite.

How is it based on 'guns and war?' It's supposed to be a futuristic set of storylines covering all manner of subjects and genres. There were some episodes where there were none of either and they were mostly very good. The future doesn't have to be post apocalyptic every time.

Brilliant television, very sobering to think that as bad as it was it could have been so much worse.

Also sobering to find out that the fireman and his wife  (Vassily and Lyudmilla Ignatenko) - who I'd assumed were fictional characters to humanise the numbers of victims  - were real people.

I thought the kitsune episode, Good Hunting, was excellent. Very sad. A warning how technology can hurt as well as help, sometimes draining the beauty and magic of the natural world.

The Civil War (Ken Burns) - Amazon Prime + £££

No regrets at all about having to give the better part of twenty knicker for this nine-part series that is almost, but not quite, as good as the unsurpassable "The Vietnam War" by the same producer. Brilliantly constructed and deeply moving. Amazing and unmissable. It loses half a mark as we both find it a little tricky at times to keep track of who's who and what's what.

9.5/10

Schitts Creek - Netflix

We're just starting the fourth season. Absolutely awesome. Top performances across the cast. Tramples the death rattle of latter AbFab episodes into the dust.

10/10

I gave p after 1st episode as they wrecked my head. It seemed to be trying ot hard and over acted. Does it improve and you get used to it. I have battled through others esrly episodes of series and it won me around.

I also gave up early, then returned to it and stuck with it for a while and started to love the people in it. Really glad I watched it.
