Ahhhhh, here you are RP, better late than never, now tell us what's happened to this plane.

No!

I just check the thread every now and then to see if it's been resolved, or to see what theories people are going on about. Apparently outlets like CNN are having a big boost in viewers though due to this, so maybe it's no big surprise that it's getting so much coverage. (Again, with respect to the people who were on the plane.)

So you do know something.

PERTH: The Chief Coordinator of the Joint Agency Coordination Centre, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston (Retired), said an initial assessment of the possible signal detected by a RAAF AP-3C Orion aircraft yesterday afternoon has been determined as not related to an aircraft underwater locator beacon.
“The Australian Joint Acoustic Analysis Centre has analysed the acoustic data and confirmed that the signal reported in the vicinity of the Australian Defence Vessel Ocean Shield is unlikely to be related to the aircraft black boxes,” Houston said.

“Further analysis continues to be undertaken by Australian Joint Acoustic Analysis Centre.

“Today Ocean Shield is continuing more focused sweeps with the Towed Pinger Locator to try and locate further signals that may be related to the aircraft's black boxes. It is vital to glean as much information as possible while the batteries on the underwater locator beacons may still be active.

“The AP-3C Orions continue their acoustic search, working in conjunction with Ocean Shield, with three more missions planned for today.

“A decision as to when to deploy the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle will be made on advice from experts on board the Ocean Shield and could be some days away.

“On the information I have available to me, there has been no major breakthrough in the search for MH370. I will provide a further update if, and when, further information becomes available.”

All Passengers of Missing Flight MH370 Alive? Russian Intelligence Claims Plane Hijacked by Terrorist Called ‘Hitch’, Landed in Afghanistan

Russian intelligence sources have claimed that all passengers and crew members aboard the missing Malaysian Flight MH370 are alive and the plane was, in fact, hijacked and flown to Afghanistan.

A source in Russian's FSB secret service has reportedly said that the plane was hijacked and flown close to the Afghan-Pakistan border and all people aboard the plane are currently being held hostage.

The intelligence source provided the data to a correspondent of a Russian newspaper, Moskovsky Komsomolets.
"Flight MH370 malaysia Airlines missing on 8 March with 239 passengers was hijacked. Pilots are not guilty; the plane was hijacked by unknown terrorists. We know that the name of the terrorist who gave instructions to pilots is "Hitch." The plane is in Afghanistan not far from Kandahar near the border withPakistan," the source was quoted as saying.
The Russian newspaper has said that the passengers have been divided into seven groups and are living in mud huts with almost no food, according to Daily Star.
The news, however, has not been confirmed by authorities either in Malaysia orChina and must be taken with caution as there are no credible evidence to prove that this is what has happened. Also, the news cannot be independently verified due to the anonymity of the source to the Russian newspaper.
A massive search team, currently coordinated by Australia, is searching for the wreckage for more than a month and recent pings possibly emitted by the black box have been considered the best lead so far.
Angus Houston, the head of a joint agency has said that they were confident that the signals heard were from the missing plane.
"I'm now optimistic that we will find the aircraft, or what is left of the aircraft, in the not-too-distant future -but we haven't found it yet, because this is a very challenging business," Houston said on Thursday.

Does anyone actually believe that this crashed and sank in the South Indian Ocean? Satellite technology can see if a coin is heads up or down from space, but in the month since the plane crashed they have not spotted a single piece of debris.

Military satellites maybe, but they dont have huge interest in covering the Indian Ocean

The only thing that says it is in the South Indian Ocean is the data from Inmarsat. They have refused to release their original data, and a physicist from New Zealand has claimed that what they are claiming to have calculated is impossible.

As for satellite coverage in the Indian Ocean, I suspect that the most highly sophisticated naval base in the world, a naval base where war planes were based for invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan might have some decent satellites around them.

The Chinese and Russians are way behind in their satellite technology.

Unless you are saying that American satellites would be over their own base which would be completely pointless.

Countries have satellites over their own territories. It's standard.

Surely they would have radar, considering there is a military airstrip there.
