This is an interesting one - didn't realise we had the option to buy him back, anyone know how he's doing? Saw he was in goal for Bulgaria the other night.

Bulgarian keeper Mihaylov keen to return to Liverpool - Yahoo!7

SOFIA, March 29 (Reuters) - Bulgarian goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov is hoping to return to Premier League club Liverpool at the end of the season, the Twente Enschede player said on Tuesday

The 22-year-old joined Liverpool from Levski Sofia in 2007 but was loaned to Dutch champions Twente after failing to obtain a work permit due to his lack of international appearances.

"Liverpool are a huge club," Mihaylov told Darik radio. "It wasn't possible to get a work visa when I went there but now there'll be no such problems because I'm playing regularly in the national team."

Twente signed Mihaylov last year on a three-year contract but Liverpool included an option to re-sign him before the end of the deal.

"I think it's absolutely real," said Mihaylov when asked about the possibility of returning to Liverpool. "The option was made when Rafa Benitez was in charge.

"I know from my agent that Pepe Reina wants to go back to Spain. His desire dates back from one or two years.

"It's not difficult to see this. I know him well, he's one of the best keepers in the world but his current form is not as it should be in a club like Liverpool."

Mihaylov, capped 16 times by Bulgaria, is son of Bulgarian Football Union president Borislav Mihaylov, who was elected on to UEFA's executive committee last week.

Borislav played more than 100 times as goalkeeper for the Balkan country and Nikolay's grand-father Biser also kept goal for the national team in the 1970s.

He's doing very well, would be a good cover for Pepe. If we stand a good chance of making a quick profit we should do a Real and get him back in.

Every time I see Milner play I just think he's perfect for Liverpool and it pains me that we didn't get him from Newcastle.

How many people said he was "average" and not good enough. I was big on him and Johnson and they both ended up at City.

Hopefully though City don't realise the value of what they have and price them both out of the team with Brazilians or Argies or whatever is flavour of the month and one or both end up here after all.

Why do you try so hard to seem like some football guru?

how about edison cavani from uruguay. top scorer in serie a last i checked. as far as i am aware he is on loan at napoli from palermo..has partnered suarez internationally and would complete our striker options and allow us to offload ngog.

Hopefully we get one or both of Young/Downing. People who think we're going to get Hazard or Sanchez need to put the crack pipe down. Downing, Baines and Adam would give us fantastic service from the left.

I agree with you on Young and Downing. Both of them, please!

I wouldn't mind him back tbh. He has alot of raw talent, done well at twente. But i think the article is suggesting him as replacement for Reina, if that's true then i'll be devastated.

If we want to compete, downing, milner and young are not good enough.

Adam looks okay for the squad, Baines and Cahill would be good for defence.

However for the centre mid spot and the two wingers required along with another striker/forward we need to spend big on world class/ world class potential

I see we've been linked with Per Mertesacker.

He would be a fantastic signing, Him and Agger at the heart of our defence could be a great partnership.

Mertesacker is similar in style to Sami, not overly quick but 6ft6 tall and very calm in possession of the ball. He is 26 and has only 12 months left on his contract.

I think the way things are going we won't be able to sell Aquilani for a decent fee, not this summer anyway (atleast half of what we paid for him) and imo he'll be back. As far as our midfield is concerned I'd rather go after McCarthy and a proper defensive mid. For the defence I think that right now is best to buy English (or atleast PL experienced players) so Baines and Cahill are good choices. In attack we should look one domestic and one foreign wide player so I'd be pretty pleased if we ended up with duo like Dzudszak-A.Young. If N'Gog will leave we need another 4th choice striker (Lacina Traore is a beast) as I think that Kuyt is a natural striker.

Man Utd want Young. Do they not want to compete? Is he really not good enough? Milner is irrelevant because there's no chance of us being in for him, and Downing might not be as fashionable as some of the foreign imports that people tout (unrealistically, in my opinion) but he has excellent crossing ability and is definitely attainable.

Also, trust Kenny. He knows what it takes to win this league.

Downing is good enough but milner isn't? We'd have a better team with milner .

You been on the Pro-Milner wagon ever since you got a hard on for him when he was playing for England.

Milner will offer nothing new to us. Not good enough and neither is fucking Downing, we need both pace and good crosses not one of the two in two quite average players....

Actually the first time I rated him was when we battered Newcastle at Anfield but Milner stood out as a good player despite that.

I disagree, I reckon Metersacker is dog shit.

We'll be in for A young, but I think he'll go to the mancs and his stock is rising following england wank fest you can add another 5-10m on his price making him around 25 mil right now. Got a feeling we'll get downing though.

He's 12 months left on his contract, Villa will get the £11m they paid for him back and not much more

Depends who comes in for him. No-one would be daft enough to make a big offer at first but if it turns into a bidding war they could get top dollar. It'll also be interesting to see how Young plays it. Let's say the mancs come in with a 'derisory' offer of 10m, however it turns out that Young doesn't want to go anywhere except Old Toilet. Spuds/us et all can bid what we want, it won't make any difference. Then we'll see if Villa play it cool and risk losing Young on a free and see if the mancs come back again.

MIlner is top class, but I'm not interested.

What I AM interested in though is getting these players early, before they get exposure and their price soars.

Where were we when the likes of Baines, Jarvis, Milner, Lennon, Johnson, Downing etc were being sold early on?

What's happened has happened, but I'd like to be assured that this club is now fully operational to attack, like a mother-fucking Death Star, when talented British 18-21 year old lads are on the market for under £5m.

Tomkins, Albrighton, Mutch, Wickham, Delph, all spring to mind as players whose value could soar in the next 3 years. I know Ipswich were holding out for £10m for Wickham, but he's gettable for a lot less when cash is on the table.
