4th place FACHT Looking at the way we played tonight and the run ins of the respective teams i fully expect us to go back to our rightful place and get back in to the top 4. Divine right aside we are clearly the form team to get back into champions league and the performance tonight was proof of this. the way we fought all match was breathtaking. this was the best we have played since the rafa european nights and the tempo and intensity was unbelievable. carrol got 2 and is settling in well and suarez was a threat all match. the tackling of spearing and lucas was very impressive and we never looked in danger at the back. good debut for flanagan looks v composed and solid. spurs and city must play each other and man city looked awful tonight. tevez is all they depend on and he will be out for at least a month with that hammy. spurs have to play chelsea arsenal man city and us so will drop plenty points. i think we can win every single match left based on tonigh. 4th place FACHT!!

Unfortunately it turned out as i predicted earlier today. counter attacking football from Hodgson and wba and caught us on the break regularly with odemwinge and brunt indeed being the 2 main reasons we lost coupled with the counterattacking tactics of Hodgson.. as much as its disappointing to lose it is important that people realise that we were too harsh in sacking him and that we should have kept him in the job. he has stopped the rot at west brom and is managing to keep them up despite taking the team in freefall. what i have been saying on this thread has rung through and roy has been vindicated 100%. the result today proves this...

Good bit of revisionism there bud. they were in total freefall and were clearly not getting out of it... they lost 8 drew one and won 1 of di matteos last 10 games.

at least hodgson never went back to fulham praised them in pre match press conference, rolled over and waved at their fans during the match and said afterwards 'ah well if your going to get tanked by anyone it may as well be fulham'

not many mentions of west brom. before roy took the job they were fucked. obviously roy hodgson is keeping them up like he did fulham with the odds stacked against him. that needs to be noted and respect must be paid to him for that...

i hate to say it but i think we will be in the wrong end of a managerial; masterpiece today. roy had no chance of succeeding nor would any manager in his shoes.. As he said yesterday he had the liverpool icon Kenny Daglaish breathing down his neck, he had the threat of administration, a distinctly average squad of players handed to him by Rafa. he was depending on a moody spanish twat for goals and after only 2 games another argentinian twat decided he wouldnt play and it took the squad weeks to get over this. his failed spell was more to do with players not pulling their weight and the so called hardcore fans going against him. I was at his last game at ewood and apart from a few honourable fans trying to drown out the idiots with 'liverpool' 'liverpool' it was mainly 'your getting sacked in the morning' and 'hodgson for england' chants from the numbskulls. We keep saying you never walk alone but roy did. he held himself with dignity to the end. never backstabbed or badmouthed the club. he had to deal with the threat of administration and take over. Not easy look at sheffield wednesday and portsmouths results since their administration fears.. new director of football meant he knew he couldn't sign or sell players himself.. as much as i hate to say it we are going to get outwitted today, the way we play leaves us wide open to a classic textbook roy hodgson educated continental couter attacking style of football. they have pace and quality to hurt us on the break with brunt and odemwinge being the 2 i am most worried about. i hope i am wrong. the bottom line is give roy some bloody respect. he had a lot of shite to deal with and was a good manager at fulham. baggies are unbeaten since he took charge for gods sake and they couldnt buy a result in the month or two before he got it.. score prediction 1-0 west brom. i wish i could say otherwise...... thanks for everything roy and putting all you had into the job. ynwa

mccarthy is someone who can play box to box as he has a good engine. he is a bit slight however so can not dominate in a holding role. he has a good eye for goal and enjoys the attacking side of the game. he is a link player too and excellent passer. heis a bit raw yet and didnt have a great game for ireland v uruguay the other night. he is feisty and has had a bit of a row over playing for ireland over scotland which caused a bit of talk for a while.. he is a great talent and i would love to see him at the club. he is one of wigans main men at only 20 years of age. would be a more progressive signing than adams i think..

what a mess at Villa. He got the job after the temporary charge of trevor mcdonald and they already had a few wins under their belt by then. Results since he took charge are unbelievably bad considering they were top 6 last 3 seasons in a row. o'neill left the squad in the lurch 5 days before season started so he must take lots of blame. As for Houllier he was using injuries as an exuse for a while, rolled over v's us and said that he didnt mind getting tanked once it was against liverpool- some way to endear himself to villa fans.. he then fielded a weak team v's man city in fa cup quarter saying they were not good enough to win v's them even at full strength. he has been questioned by collins and dunne in training and fined them and made a new set of strict rules. dealing with a bunch of interntional players including a number who are in flying form for england. its been an awful tenure for him there. they have 8 matches to stay up including bitters away next and us and arsenal last 2 games. they could easily go down. be some achievement if that happened.....

how about edison cavani from uruguay. top scorer in serie a last i checked. as far as i am aware he is on loan at napoli from palermo..has partnered suarez internationally and would complete our striker options and allow us to offload ngog.

the majority of the squad was Houlliers and it was he who laid the groundwork. Rafa just picked up the pieces.. with a bit of luck v leverkusen ged wud have brought us to glory.. rafa takes the plaudits but i voted on ged's side on this one -
this hatred towards hodgson is unbelievable. he had to deal with one proper out and out striker who is a twat and is sulky and injury prone and was not commited to the cause. he had a great record in fulham and just coz he wasnt a big name appointment he was given no time or chance.. the 'hodgson for england' taunts were embarassing and i wish him all the best in the west brom job apart from saturday that is.. lets show some respect to him..

36 years of experience all over europe. fulham consistently midtable despite him taking over in a pwecawious position when he took over.... euwopa league final with them and now getting results with baggies.. we should have given him more time

thanks Jim MM, i think 'you'll never walk alone' should be honoured ring through and it doesnt seem to at all. hodgson needed time. i am ashamed at the boo boys and treatment given to a real pro of a manager. i am really worried he will make the majority of the fans eat their words saturday! fergie got 4 years to sort out man united and roy only got a few months..

well unrighteous i am none of the things you claim i am. i am a pool fan who happens to think that Roy should have been treted better than he was and i thought he was the most consistent manager in the premier leage for the few years before he got the job. the normality of giving a guy 6 months for a job and writing him off as rubbish is v frustrating and disappointing. i was also ashamed when konchesky was jeered off the field v wolves and the scape goat that he and poulsen were made into.. it goes against all i think being a red should signify...

i cant believe the hatred towards a man who came in during difficult circumstances with an average squad handed to him by the faltering Rafa and the takeover and administration issues. He should have gotten more time and respect. A man with 36 years experience in football management. I am afraid to say the decision to sack him will come back to haunt us this weekend. He has done a fine job at west brom since he went there and will keep them up,,,
