I think it's a bit of a sweeping statement to say all young footballers do this kind of thing too, the main culprits I can think of - other than our lot in the 90s for which we earned an extremely unsavoury reputation and - it has to be said - suffered for it by winning fuck all, are people like Ashley Cole and Rio Ferdinand, who, by the time they were Carroll's age, were lynchpins for their counties and clubs and had drawers full of medals, - you have to earn the right to shit like this in my view, you gain yourself leeway by putting a shift in when you are playing, or when you are training - Carroll does and has done none of those things.

 

If he had any concerns for his career, or even basic respect for the fans who pay his wages, then this tedious physical wreck would be a bit more careful about rubbing things like this in people's faces - in fact if I saw my career passing me by like his is through injury and fitness problems, I'd be spending all my spare time trying to get in shape rather than fucking around.

You're missing a few pieces of fact. It was £16 million upfront. There is an outstanding £2 million to be paid depending on success most likely to be goals scored. There is the loan fee of £2 million. This adds up to £20 million.

People get slagged by some on here for defending Kenny... to the point where those subjects have been moved to another forum.

Carroll's been effectively gone from the place for almost as long.

We all know it was a bad buy.

He's been loaned out. Now he's been sold.

He has a lot of faults.

If people are still prepared to pay him good money for that, knowing all that, then perhaps he's not as stupid as we think.

The club has got some money back.

I'd rather he started doing well, and began to justify some of the money the game is giving him.
