  1. Ties into Peter's inner Chimp theorum - ?
  2. There is a psychological study by Dunning and Kruger which concludes that the weakness of the incompetent is to not know what they do not know and denigrate and disbelief those who are compentent - the weakness of the competent however, is to assume that everyone (incompetent included) knows what they know (or perhaps believes what they believe) If you believe as I do that religion and faith is nonsense, you had better not believe that everyone thinks as you do - you would not be farther from the truth. This may explain Clinton's loss - after all, who in their right mind would vote for a racist misogynist moron like that? Welllll.....plenty.
  3. Its 1,2,and 3 for me - (although I have moved on to jazz fusion as an old fart) - I am learning to play drums and figuring out immigrant song and when the levee breaks - kind of a blast from the past as I saw them 3-4 times (no I don't remember, :D )
  4. Agreed - the owners need bashing over the head with results to make it clear that the youngsters should be apprentices not starters, and the mature starters ain't really all that. Do you want to compete or not? that is the question - we need all of Klopps pull to get a higher standard of player in here - results don't lie..
  5. I was thinking the same thing just watching this shite game - the physical side of the game is so overwhelming, that the technical side cannot keep up. The wealth of the league has allowed all the teams to buy the most physically advanced players possible - there is no time on the ball - our team wants a couple of touches, and this will not work now. Leister not only have a quick team, but also a few guys who can function technically in the mix as well - our players better adapt quickly. Knocking it about after looking this way and than does not cut it. In fact WE are the ones who cannot handle the press, not the other way around.
  6. don't agree - you would have bombed out Ozil and he was supposed to be the finished article - these guys are all young and they are going to be inconsistent no matter how much was paid for them - we saw what they CAN do against Man City - I am confident that with this coach they can return to that. I will give you Lallana and Benteke but not the others.
  7. To be sure it is frustrating, but the games are coming thick and fast, and for me, winning is more important than how it looks. I thought Can looked very committed, and the back line did not concede - job done. Sometimes its going to be ugly and maybe ugly for a while - the team is coming through a period where everyone wants to test them physically - they are now rising to the challenge - the prettier play will return - lots of youngsters out there - i think we sometimes forget that.
  8. I have serious concerns of my own about Rogers, but this type of self entitled stuff seems to me, to make you more of a consumer, rather than a fan. Its not just the Rogers issue, (he may indeed need to go) - but the general view - to me its not healthy - anybody affected physically by this? Time to step off a bit?
  9. He does seem confused to me - even when Ings came on, he played behind Benteke not up beside - what was the point in the sub? Arsenal was done, why play a DM like Lucas at home against this team? 2 goals in 4 games FFS. Felt bad for Benteke must have been lonely....
  10. I think that playing at Anfield is too much for certain players....and he is one of them. Dopey and nervous is a deadly combination. Lovren and Lucas will be the death of Rogers, for different reasons.
  11. I know how you feel - I was a pretty good amateur, but liked the party life.... feel like I became a better player once I slowed down physically. I played with and against against some ex-pros some time ago - Jim Eason from Scotland/also a guy who played against Maradona U21's and with Cruyf with Washington Diplomats (NASL) plus a load of ex NASL players. Not top top players but the jump from very good amateur to even low level pro is huge. - had to laugh - I mentioned that I had visited Olympic stadium in Rome to watch Lazio - he said "oh yeah, I played there once" . Also have coached a kid or two who played lower level pro.
  12. Well said - everyone in professional sports is out of sight financially with the average fan - I understand the socialist ethos here, but the vitriol is applied pretty selectively - some of the shit being spouted is laughable, but predictable. In the rest of the world business and profit are not dirty words.
  13. I don't follow the logic - if financial fair play rules are followed then it seems that until revenues improve through marketing and the additional seats being built, the owners are doing what they can. Better players will cost even more money than young ones - just how do you suggest we get this superior team that the high ticket prices deserve?
  14. Wikipedia has a definition of "naive realism" worth looking at.
