Not that surprising really given they've got new owners in the last few weeks.

 

Though without a massive cash injection I can't see any new manager doing much more than Allardyce has done for them. Entertaining football might get a few more bums on seats but it's difficult to see what the likes of Blackburn, Stoke, Fulham etc can do without a long term spending plan.

 

It's taken Spurs a long time to get to the position they're in and Villa have invested over the last 5 years and it only got them so far. Once the spending dried up as it has in the last 2 seasons they've been left behind. As have Liverpool.
