Is Andy Carroll worth a punt?

I was wondering, we're on the look out for a new "targetman" like striker. Apparently looking at Dzeko and Llorente, is Andy Carroll worth a mention, he's VERY good in the air, strong and decent with his feet, he also puts in a shift which supporters love. He would be alot cheaper than these 2 aswell. Already in this England game he's knocked a few down for Gerrard running onto, it looks promising.

I know he's had problems off field but as I was reading the other day, at the moment he's a big fish in a small pond in Newcastle, the "new" man on the block who everyone wants a piece of, be it good reasons or bad. Also the company he keeps up there is not good, more than a few scrapes he's got into are mainly the fault of his friends. So by taking him away from that enviroment he could shine even more, what do you think?

Newcastle won't sell. It'd be more than Ashley's life is worth as Carroll is the new Shearer. And let's face it, would he want to leave?

Then you have to balance the fee and wages against how much time he'll be available between his stays in Walton.

Would love to see him next to Nando. I feel he would be the perfect partner for Nando and they would be devestating with Nando benefiting from the workload and knockdowns provided by Carroll. I would love to see someone like this helping Nando rough up the centre backs the way they do to Nando when hes up top on his own.

I would be just as open to us going for Llorente who I see as a player in a slightly similar mould than Carroll, technically Llorente is a mile ahead though.

Sadly I think we'll be looking for Nandos replacement rather than partner in the not so distant future. :(

Seeing that now Llorente's buy out has gone up to 63m euro's, he be the more viable option imo. With regards to Ngog, Carroll has impressed me 10 times more this season than anything Ngog has ever done. Carroll to me has the potential to be very Drogba like, who was Didier Drogba at 21? Once he learns exactly how to use his assest to the fullest then he can be unstopable.

He's so, so overrated. The most clear case of English bias I've seen, apart from maybe Barry and Walcott.

Who the fuck ever triggers a buy out clause anyway? If Ngog started every game for Newcastle as its focal point I think he'd do better. Carroll is a good player, but nowhere near a "wunderkid" or a "world-beater". The second half of your argument is incoherent and incomprehensible.

Also, he's a woman-beating cunt.

To be honest, I really like the look of him. Can't say I've seen loads of his game so I'm no expert but what I have seen has impressed me. He's a fuckin big strong lad, powerful in the air, handy on the deck with a cracking shot on him and he also looks like a total loon, as if he's not quite all there. Seems to have a confidence and arrogance on the pitch which all good strikers should have.

Like I say, I'm not an expert so I may well be judging him incorrectly based purely on highlights, but I do reckon he'd do a good job for us.
