Downing Henderson Lucas -
up to him coming on, the might of Wigan were passing through our midfield with relative ease

Last night Fulham's Director of Communications said we only ever offered 3 million for Dempsey. Ben Smith was told Brendan only realised his £20m transfer budget included wages very late in the transfer window. Dont know how you can spin any of that without thinking major cock up.

Not how I heard it. Gordan Taylor tried to play peacermaker but Evra wasn't having it.

Sorry thats a kop out - I remember a certain previous LFC manager being cut no slack whatsoever when an enforced down sizing of playing staff, a bad run of injuries and luck (including freak beach ball goals, goals that shouldnt have been disallowed etc etc etc) ultimately led to us being knocked out of the top 4.

Maybe but the introduction of Kuyt and Aquilani miraculously improved the performance of a shit team by 100%. Personally I think its madness to get rid of one of our better midfielders although I understand the reasons for doing so.

This is a Xabi post - nothing to do with Rafa. Xabi signed a new improved contract in June 2007 (his wife isnt pregnant) In December 2007 Brian Reade reports that Rafa tells him Xabi wants to go back to Spain (his wife is now 6 months pregnant) Xabi has a son in March 2008 and rumours start to surface that Xabi wants to bring up his family in Spain. Sometimes football decisions can be made which are actually outside of football.
-
“Also, if I go, Reina, Arbeloa, Mascherano and Torres would all leave too. Xabi Alonso will go anyway, because he wants to go back to Spain.” So it seems that Rafa knew in December 2007 that Xabi wanted to go back to Spain

The mentality of a lot of our players?
lawrie replied to BurtReynolds's topic in FF - Football Forum
Our players dont want to win enough against the middling teams, they dont seem to have too much trouble against the top sides
