Just wait till they start going on about the dress and the flowers and... *yawn*. Bridezilla by proxy. One of my friends is getting married in a few months and every single day her facebook status is some tedious information about how excited she is because she's just ordered some bloody napkin rings or just had her 18th hair trial or similar. This will be the same on a much grander scale. I might go and hide in a cave until it's all over.

I hear a green-eyed monster...

I thought he came across as a decent enough bloke. I did notice that his accent was pretty normal, now as a royal he's the height of posh right? So how come that daft twat off Big Brother sounds like Lord Haw-Haw?

I thought that myself. I know a number of lower-middle class wannabees with posher accents than our future King.

Anyone else think Prince Edward is like Fredo Corleone? The runt with shit for brains. Give him a Casino to run and he'd fuck it up.

Can imagine Charles getting pissed off after his production company were caught following Wills a while back, saying 'he broke my heart! He broke my heart! But nothing must happen to Edward while my brother lives.'

Why do people get offended by a monarchy?

I don't know where to start with that.

Good point, they're not my cup of tea, but they're ultimately harmless and give a little lift to a lot of people.

(The money angle is stilted: £38.2m a year pales against the obscenities that abound in that there bladder-kicking game [or indeed the welfare bill]. Public purse or no, it still ultimately comes from our pockets). Ho hum..

Give it a couple of years, when she's popped a few sprogs, has saggy tits and a battered fanny she'll be kicked to the side.

And why not? He'll probably be the king by then and he can do what the fuck he likes!

An heir and a spare. Thats what it says in the Job Description.

Did I hear today that the staging of this thing will cost the british tax payer in excess of £50m? That cant be right surely? They also mentioned that the main cost will arise from the army and police etc lining the streets.

While the police would be on overtime there is no such thing as that in the forces. I don't see (apart from travel warrants and possibly accommodation) where they get that from.

I've worked a 30 day month and a 4 day month, same pay packet.

Woosh.

Aye, massive woosh.

Why would someone be offended by the belief that someone should be born into riches, keep land and wealth despite feudalism ending a while back, and live on the backs of the rest of the people? This isn't just the queen either, it;s the dozens of other cousins and second nephews that own masses of land that they've done nothing to earn, nothing but be descended from relatives that exploited the rest of the area under their iron boot.

"Oooh, they visit countries and stuff and are good for tourism".

Even if they were good for tourism, something I find laughable given the amount of famous buildings that attract tourists worldwide, bull-fighting is good for tourism, it doesn't make it any less barbaric and backward and something you put an end to.

I have to say that I am not easy with the concept that the Dukes of Normandy living relatives still own something like 40% of the land in the UK today, it may be more or it may be less but it is a lot. Not as much as it used to be by about 50% or something.
