A work colleague of mine doesn't like the name Edward. So much so that he uses his middle name, which is Russ. When I tell you that his surmane is Wood you may understand better.

I'm sorry Stu I don't understand, I don't understand how a man under any circumstances would willingly choose to call himself "Russ", fucked. up.

Yeah it's a Northern shortening of the name Steven. Have you never heard of Steven Gerrard referred to as Ste Gerrard?

Ste/Steve/Steven is a bit of an issue with me, especially given it is my own name.

At no time do I mind being called Steven and it goes out on all official correspondence, except one. That one piece is the letters my department send out to neighbour consultees, where it goes out as Steve and does annoy me.

I don't really like being called Steve and never was called that until I moved away to Uni at 18. I have never ever asked anyone to call me Steve. Mainly southerners think its okay to abbreviate my name with out asking. In the end I got used to it and stopped complaining and would have looked a tit if I appeared up tight about it (which I'm not anyway). Sometimes I even end an e-mail with it, despite it annoying me, I just forget.

Ste is fine for mates or family to call me, but I never want it said in a professional forum or anywhere outside of home except maybe the boozer.

All this was a round about way of saying, that perhaps Gerrard is informally known as Ste, but like, me would not want it used by anyone but a close friend, not in public or when instructed. Cos lets face it Ste sounds a bit scall.

Glenn. It's my middle name and I think it's shit. Dad must have been in a real hurry to get out to golf the day I was born....

I fucking knew my name would be in here.

I was almost called the following: Matthew, Daniel, Thomas, Jack or Adam.

The only saving grace for it would be that I spell it with two n's, living here everything is called Glen...something.

Tristan. I went out with a Tristan, he was a twat with a twattier name. The best thing about it was that his name wasn't even really Tristan, it was Kevin, and he actually changed it to Tristan. The twat.

Tristan Fucking Tristan, Picked it himself, wouldnt have happened in my day I dont mind tellin' yeah.
