Yep. That's right up my street. I love the original, I love Denzel and the prospect of contemporary action and production values should add up to a cracker (as long as Mr True Detective's writing is season one quality rather than season two).

The lighting on that annoys the shit out of me. Why is it so dark? It's a western. Why are modern films and TV shows so dark? I prefer watching older movies where everything is brightly lit and you can see every detail.

I can handle a darkly lit period film as long as they don't play Kanye fucking West over it in the trailers, Magnificent 7 and Assassins Creed have done it now.

Daniel Radcliff doesnt look the right fit for that film at all.

I know, which is a shame because the film looks half decent. He's also in an upcoming film where he's a journalist who gets involved with the Yakuza and doesn't seem to fit that either. I'll still give it a go though.

Seems a bit fashionable to hate on the original, but watched in the cinema, with all the subtle surround sound effects, I thought it was superb. Totally unique at the time as well. Anyway, think this is a sequel rather than a reboot. Blair Witch Project 2 wasn't even close to being a film, so it doesn't count.

This- surprisingly- looks pretty decent.

The original was a decent film supported by a well crafted backstory that evolved leading up to it. One of the surrounding mockumentaries - The Burkitsville Seven - was a more effective chiller. It did have a good unsettling ending with her coming across the lad stood in the corner crying though.

It wasn't that unique.

Yep, remember the McPherson tapes terrified me when I was a kid which pre-dates Blair WItch.

You had directors like Deodato and Lenzi doing the found footage cannibal films (Holocaust and Ferox) in the 80's as well as a host of horror films pre blair witch (although you can argue whether they were found footage or mockumentaries).

The Last Broadcast predates Blair Witch by at least a year.
