Wonder why we didn’t go for him in the summer? I believe he signed a new contract with a release clause 20million more than what he would have costed in the summer.

Said at the time that we would probably sign him now he was dearer.

Went from £39m to about £53m

Strangely, that will actually make half the forum like him more.

When you're trying to "win the transfer window," it's actually better to overpay because then, like Arsenal did with Pepe or Chelsea with Mudryk, your fans can go on Twitter and crow about how great it is to support a big club and post memes of Liverpool fans crying or whatever.

We were spent out for this window. Matip might still get another year and if that happens, we won't buy anyone at centre back this summer.

Because you're not spending 30-40 million on someone to sit behind Van Dijk, the club were always looking for a project centre back last summer who would be open to less playing time and that they could develop.

The only change to that would have been if their was a centre back they were REALLY high on suddenly became available, like Colwill, that may have changed the plans.

Klopp will never win the elusive transfer window trophy with that attitude.

I mean, how dare we try and bed in players who have been at the since like 6 years old, when we could just ignore all the time, money & years of effort we’ve invested in them, when we could just shoot our load on somebody expensive to sit on the bench?

Basic mathematics tells you that money we bid for players > players signed.

Yawn. We pretty much spent what they tokd us we would before the window. The Bellingham fee, plus sales. We were never, ever in for caicedo. It's complete nonsense. The lad never wanted to come here. It takes 3 sides to make a deal, we went into that with eyes wide open that one party didn't want to make a deal.
