Yes I think that’s the point. If he backs down it’s a tacit acknowledgment that he’s an employee and ergo owes a lot of backdated tax. By picking a fight he is trying to show he’s independent. If it’s true, and I accept that’s a big if, It’s not about refugees, it’s about tax avoidance. Always follow the money.

A little snapshot of Laura and the beeb in all their glory. She let Grant Shapps tell an obvious lie about Gordon Brown putting forty people in the Lords then makes light of it and calls the ones correcting her (probably Brown's own office "nerds".

The whole show was about Johnson misleading parliament and telling lies in general yet her response when pulled is to act as if a tory politician saying something untrue is neither here nor there, not really worth correcting.

She's a pointless twat. The defence of Cummings on that Pippa Crerar tweet about him breaking lockdown rules told me she doesn't view herself as a real journo.

The only thing journos really care about, a bit like scientists and doctors (not that I'm comparing them) is the opinions of their peers.

The fact she does such cringeworthy shit and doesn't care shows me she  views herself more as a celebrity, a famous face, showbiz.

There's a lot of that around politics. You can imagine her and peston getting texts at the pub or the barbecue at the weekend and saying to people "oh a text from Rishi, I'll text him back later."

I'm sure the decision would have been exactly the same had the main topic of abuse of the week been aimed at Starmer or Corbyn.

Yep. Myrie made a joke over this lady's appointment to the Lords, seems bit of a sore subject with the beeb.

I was wondering if the beeb would mention on their feed the Johnson and Lebdev Dispatches story but alas nothing. Speaking of Russia I'm still mad at our nurses for their stikes "playing into the hands of Putin" as Nadeem Zahwi called it.

I do enjoy a good dog story though.
