Interesting

Dont see many ex footballers getting into scouting these days. Good luck to him

What a fucking odd acquisition.

Presume he knows someone in the coaching team, or the 'committee'.

Scouts usually get brought in because they ha d a track record of spotting talent, but Woodgate doesn't seem to have that? Ergo, his judgement must be trusted by someone who knows him personally.

Or maybe he has a really strong track record that you don't know about. How many other current scouts can you name for Liverpool or anyone else without recourse to Google?

Considering he was still a Middlesborough player this year, I don't think he's been scouting on the side. Or if he has, then that's all a bit strange that he hasn't gone straight into Boro's scouting team?

I wonder if there's an Inglethorpe link from his Spurs days.

People's views of who scouts are and what they do don't seem to tally wuth reality.

For every high profile scout turned director of football like Frank Arnesen there are 3000 blokes in flat caps standing in the rain at shitty reserve games feeding information up the chain.
