Yes...it now shows up but only fills up a portion of the screen in the middle!

For the benefit of others:

Yep, same here. Turn it landscape and it will change on screen. I found when I run XBMC, it still didn't fill full screen. There is an option in there somewhere for a second screen setting.

 

Do you have Netflix? I found if I ran Netflix, that took the full screen. Then switching to XBMC kept the full screen.

 

Saw enough of XBMC to make me invest in a Raspberry Pi and run XBMC from there. Gives you the added benefit of being able to still browse on the iPad, etc

Your iPad is just mirroring it's 4:3 picture to your 16:9 TV - hence the black bars down both sides. bbd iPlayer is optimised for HDMI out, so you could try that and see if it fills the whole screen. Regular videos should also play correctly, assuming that they are stored on the iPad in 16:9

 

XBMC is also optimised for 16:9, you need to change it in: Settings, System, Video Output
