  2. They weren't that much different. Carlo hated the idea of the Super League so much he slagged it off then joined the club who created it and pushed it for their own self interests. Evertonians hated the idea of football while people were dying of Covid and were the ones who opposed it most. That was until they started winning games and were top of the league then they conveniently forgot about it. They also laughed at Watford fans kicking off about Everton poaching Marco Silva but now are fuming that Carlo has fucked them off for a bigger club.

  3. Been down there for a few days with my girls in the summer holidays for the last couple of years. Becoming a kind of annual thing like Anubis’ brother. Probably gonna go this year too but we’ve done most of the main tourist stuff and plenty of other stuff on the side. It was a bit shit last year having to wear the mask everywhere but it is what it is. The ‘eat out to help out’ did bring the cost down to be fair. Hoping to maybe get them to a West End show this year as Turdsette will be old enough to enjoy that this time around. Then maybe a river cruise or something like that which we’ve never done. I’d happily spend all day in and around Leicester Square watching the street performers if the weather was nice. There are plenty of free/cheap things to do down there for kids though. Natural History Museum, etc. The Science Museum is superb and the bit on the top floor that you need to pay to get into is great fun.

  6. Just ate less shite and moved more...a lot more....for example ran 125k in April. Average about 14,000 steps per day...bit of weight lifting as well 3 times a week - nothing heavy, just dumbells and a barbell at home. Some days especially early on i would only have one meal a day, often chicken breast fillets with broccoli and other veg....or cod loin fillets with a sweet potato and veg. Fair amount of eggs has been a big part of it....oats as well... Tried to ensure protein high and cut out totally shite like cakes, chocolate, biscuits etc....only drank water (until pubs opened) Was 16st 9lbs on new years day measuring 45 inches round belly button. 11st 11lbs today and 34.5 inches round belly button. Feels a lot better. Chips on Friday for me this week - and plenty of them as well!

  7. One of the things I love most is where someone or something triumphs in the face of adversity. Being astute in the transfer market is great but, nothing beats a situation where someone is a virtually nobody \ surplus to requirements \ deemed not worthy and yet makes a hugh impact and success of things. I dislike that many seem to think the only way to be successful in football is just spend, spend, then spend more. If I subscribed to that ethos, Id be a fan of city, chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona. So I think it's great players like Nat come through and do as good a job as anyone else costing £40m-£60m. To some, Nat will never be good enough because they think every defender has to be quicker than the quickest footballers, not to mention being 'perfect.' And they dont need to be. They just need to have a good football brain, a sense of positioning and do what is expected. Ive lost count of the number of times van Dijk has made a mistake or been beaten by an opponent. There's nothing wrong with van Dijk or Matip or Gomez making mistakes. It's part and parcel of football. Whether Nat decides to move on in 12 months time or not not remains to be seen. I still think he'll get game time next season because van Dijk and Gomez will be eased back and not overburdened. I think Nat has been one of the true successes of our season.

  9. I like the way they console themselves with the fact that Moyes left for United, Koeman 'left' for Barcelona, Brown Shoes 'left' for Belgium and now Carlo has left for Madrid. My girlfriend has left me and I am back to wanking myself silly on a Friday night - but she left me for a much better looking lad than me, with more money and better prospects - so actually, when you think about it - I am winning.

  23. They’re undoubtedly the funniest football club in the land. We’re actually blessed to have them as city rivals and have them hate the RS so much it physically hurts them, especially when we’re successful and they’re constantly imploding. The small time twats. Long live the Ev.

  30. Ange could be a very astute signing for Celtic. When he was coach of the Brisbane Roar they were undefeated for the the best part of two seasons, playing some of the best football ever in the A-League (no real mean feat I know) He is very attack minded, his team principles are all about possession with purpose, fast paced counter attacks and quick, intelligent movement from the front 4 or 5 and he was trying to implement a 3-2-4-1 system for the national team. He went to Japan and has evolved his methods and philosophy further where he has won the title as well playing that style of football. He is a massive red and when you watch his teams you can see that pass and move style of the 80s which he fell in love with. I have been lucky to know him through some people I work with in football. He is an extremely deep thinker, a student of the game and I am curious to see if his methods can translate into the Scottish game. If he is given the time then Celtic will play a very attractive style of football in the next couple of seasons.

  34. It's getting pretty tiresome hearing how Nat Phillips isn't good enough to play for Liverpool despite winning 8 league matches on the bounce playing for Liverpool. Reminds me a little of another moderately paced, unshowy, limited centre half; one who wasn't deemed good enough to represent his country at international level, yet captained his side to multiple league titles. Not every successful centre back has to be a Virgil or a Rio or a Baresi; sometimes they're a Steve Bruce.

  35. Some dickhead overtook me going round a roundabout the other day then cut me up causing me to slam on to avoid a collision. I hit the horn, he stops his car in the middle of the roundabout and his passenger who looked off his tits on something is screaming abuse, I give it back, my Mrs is telling me to leave it and the driver takes off with the passenger still giving it the Billy big bollocks. What a pair of fucking bellends. What annoys me most of all is the fact that in my past I would have taken great delight in spreading the little cunt right up the road, these days I can barely walk 10 paces to the car. Really boils my piss.

  37. Yes I share a lot of those views. I have been very defensive of Ancelotti, partly because I think the points he's got are better than the league position but partly because in general I think we turn on managers a bit quickly and I am in favour of giving people time. But the doubts certainly started to creep in for me. I kind of felt we had got to a bit of a fork in the road. One way was the way Ancelotti wanted to go, the other was the way the club probably needs to go if it wants to move in a sustainable direction. I don't think there was anyone in the club who was able/prepared to stand up to Ancelotti and say no, and the concern was that we may have gone further down a rabbit hole. There is a chance of a re-set now, and the positive is it's not a re-set in mid season with us in or around the relegation zone which leads to a short termism. We finished 30 points above 18th (twice as high) last season so to me there is no excuse for a pragmatic choice of coach. I understand the criticism of Brands, but this has to be his moment to stamp his authority on the club as to what we want to do moving forward. Selecting a coach that fits that brief becomes important. I think overall we are all a bit guilty of a bit of an old fashioned outlook, that getting the biggest name manager is how you turn a club around. What you really need is a good process, a process that makes sense for where you sit and the to be consistent and patient with it. The alternative was Ancelotti was going to be to gamble again. Gamble on 2 or 3 players who will offer nothing in terms of "sell on" in the hope we could gate crash the top 4. He is such a pretentious little wanker isn't he? You can imagine him nodding sagely at various posts 'hmmm yes, yes - good point' "Yes I share a lot of those views. I have been very defensive of Ancelotti, partly because I think the points he's got are better than the league position but partly because in general I think we turn on managers a bit quickly and I am in favour of giving people time. But the doubts certainly started to creep in for me." I mean, what the fuck does any of that mean? I think we turn on our managers too quickly, but Ancelotti was always the wrong choice. That's it. Basically, his whole point. Illogical bollocks for 18 months.

  38. I’d be a worried if Eddie Howe takes over. Any Manager that can take a Club from the bottom of the football league to the Prem in 5 years and keeps them there for 5 years on crowds of 10,000, all the time playing attractive attacking football, is a little bit special. he gets the most of nearly every player he works with which is why he had a core of 7/8 players from League 2 still in his Prem side, he has an eye for young talent ( we were linked with the likes of Lewis Cook, Danjama, Brooks, Lerma, Lloyd Kelly etc), and he’ll be around for the long term so can build something. after 11 years, he eventually got burnt out as most Managers do, but he would be a smart gamble.
