Are they ever a good idea?

 

At the Steaua game, Pepe was clearly the one with the biggest cojones, which should have qualified him for the armband.

 

But

He's a goalkeeper and therefore can't get around much of the pitch. (Except when Ngog scores against the Mancs, obviously.)

 

So, should a goalkeeper ever be captain?

Since I started going to more than about half the matches each season. 4 years or so?

 

Edit - Pepe probably since 2007 or 2008.

 

OK, fair enough. TBH I never thought of Jamie as that type of player, he had the fire, but never was THE commanding presence in the side.

 

As for the GK being the captain, Kahn did ok, and those that say the captain needs to be further up the pitch I would agree, if the ball was further up as well. Sadly, it does not seem like that will be the case in the near future.
