He is which is why we should defo be in for him.

I think Johnson will just be the start but we'll see. If Arbeloa is going and it looks like he is regardless, we would of needed a replacement.

People should see that and still be hopeful we'll sort the areas we all want.

Had we signed Silva and a forward and then Albert wanted out we'd need a new RB. We've done this 1st so lets see what happens.

If Arbeloa goes we need two right backs. I wouldnt fancy the whole budget going on silva personally and i really dont think he will leave spain. I am sure Riera will improve next year after a good season.

There are no decent wingers about that would come to us or be in our price range. The width will likely come from fullbacks. Tevez and Johnson would be a great summer imo and i expect downing to come in on loan and a 4th choice cb to be bought like distin.

If we do the above i think we can keep our existing squad pretty much intact. We dont need much just a bit more bite at home. Johnson will get forward and whip crosses in and Tevez can take the pressure off gerrard and torres. I would much rather have solid players capable of flair then someone like silva who just looks like a flair player to me, i want energy, strength and power not someone whose mrs will be whinging by october.

Newcastle I think it was who bid for him.

Arda played right full back for a season when Gala loaned him out to a relegation fighting side. He's covered there for them a few times as well which is why I figure he'd be worth buying as both a winger and a backup right full.

he could never play there in the prem, he is not very big and does not have much defensive instinct. He was playing for a small club but more as a wingback and he only played about 15 games on loan anyway.

Rafael and Insua aren't big yet they can play full back. Bob isn't exactly physically imposing either. From what I have seen of Arda he is very sound defensively and is also a very good tackler.

He's a flair player. He has dribbling ability, and a decent amount of pace. He's skilled and a good passer. He should ALWAYS be in one of these positions: Left, right or Central attacking midfield.

Has he played against us before?

Arjen Robben and Ruud van Nistelrooy made available by Real Madrid

• Spanish club has to sell to keep buying galácticos

• Renewed bid for Valencia's David Villa likely

Real Madrid have contacted several Premier League clubs with a list of nine players they are keen to offload as they desperately seek to recover some of the £150m they spent on Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka. Arjen Robben and Ruud van Nistelrooy are among those for sale.

A fax has been sent from the Bernabéu that includes the names of the club's Dutch players, as well as the former Manchester United full-back Gabriel Heinze. Robben and Van Nistelrooy are joined by their compatriots Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart and Royston Drenthe. The defensive midfielder Mahamadou Diarra and the striker Javier Saviola have also been made available.

Madrid concluded two huge transfers in four days for Kaka and Ronaldo but their new president, Florentino Pérez, is determined to continue spending. He wants to make a renewed bid for David Villa after negotiations broke down at the last minute with Valencia, whose president, Manuel Llorente, is furious at Madrid's approach. Valencia want ¤45m (£38m) for the striker but Madrid have so far refused to meet the valuation.

That late twist appeared to offer Chelsea and United a glimmer of hope in their pursuit of the Spain international although a Barcelona director has admitted they, too, are in talks with Villa.

Pérez has announced that he had to "do in one year what we would normally do in three" and he is determined to sign a left-back, central defender and central midfielder. Madrid also want to sign a striker and will turn their attention to Diego Forlán should they fail to sign Villa. Although Madrid have appeared to boast limitless resources over the past week, the Spanish club are aware that they have to sell in order to continue buying.

Madrid have set themselves a target of ¤100m of incoming transfer fees to help fund a total outlay that could reach ¤300m. That would represent a significant loss on players who cost them more than ¤160m but the figure still appears optimistic.

The shift in the euro means that a ¤10m player will now cost an English club about £8.5m, when a little over a year ago the figure was closer to £6m. The vast majority of the players have also seen their value drop at Madrid. Van Nistelrooy is one of the few to have enhanced his reputation but he has been injured for eight months and will be 33 in two weeks' time. He and Huntelaar are among Tottenham's targets.

Although Robben has expressed his desire to stay at the Bernabéu, Madrid are especially determined to sell him because they consider him one of the few players who can command a huge fee, alongside Sneijder, who signed for ¤25.5m from Ajax in 2007. Robben is not helped by his status as a marquee signing and electoral promise of the former president Ramón Calderón – the only promise he delivered on. Privately, however, Madrid doubt their chances of recovering the ¤36m he cost from Chelsea.

Madrid remain determined to sell players, even if they do not recuperate their original fees, and would also consider loans. Together, Sneijder, Drenthe, Robben and Van Nistelrooy account for almost ¤10m a year in wages, while Diarra is on ¤2.8m, Saviola ¤2.5m and Heinze ¤2m.

Arda won't be cheap, Galatsaray turned down a 9 million pound bid for him from Middlesborough or one of those shitty teams last season didn't they? .

It just goes to show what a shambles our club is at the moment when we're debating about whether or not Rafa can buy a player who was a target of a relegated team...

Maybe there's no gossip today? Maybe we can have a forum day where we all just tell each other how valuably we hold each others opinion.

I think Real Madrid have sorted todays ranting out for us, just seen what that article further up said.. In fact if Johnson decides where the fuck he's going I think that'll do me for the week, it's annoying reading about it all the time.

I think Rafa might try and sign Owen aswell, just so that the blueshite don't get him.

JOHNSON OPTS FOR LIVERPOOL

Tuesday June 16,2009

RAFA BENITEZ is on the verge of making Glen Johnson Liverpool’s first summer signing after Chelsea beat a tactical retreat in their chase for the England defender. Portsmouth are understood to have agreed a fee with Liverpool following more talks yesterday that could eventually reach £18.5 million for one of the Premier League’s most daring full-backs.

Liverpool will offset the outlay by selling Alvaro Arbeloa to Real Madrid for around £8m. They are also still owed £7m from Portsmouth as part of the deal that took Peter Crouch to Fratton Park last summer.

Johnson, 24, had been the subject of a similar bid from Chelsea, but sources at Stamford Bridge last night indicated that their interest in a player who only left the club two years ago had waned.

Anfield boss Benitez’s long-standing interest in Johnson is thought to have been a major factor in the player indicating he preferred a move to Merseyside. Manchester City, Tottenham and Bayern Munich had also been keen on Johnson, but the prospect of helping Liverpool push on from last season’s second-place finish in the Premier League appeals.

Despite the size of the fee, it is an indication of the constraints that Benitez is working under that Arbeloa, who began his career at Real Madrid, will be sacrificed to help fund the cash. Real president Florentino Perez is pursuing other high-profile targets first, among those being Xabi Alonso, because he is aware that a move for Arbeloa will be straightforward.

Benitez is also likely to allow Andrea Dossena to return to Italy after just one season at the club with Juventus interested in a £6m deal.

I want Johnson but only if it doesn't affect our other targets and to compliment Arbeloa. I think selling Arbeloa is stupid unless he wants to go and it means we now have to buy another right back imo which means two defenders settling in for a season that we should be pushing on to win the league.

Our centre backs are not good enough to play right back, I dont want Masch there, will Degen ever be fit and i really dont fancy Darby playing in a team chasing the title.
