The Bold Street Time Slips

Anyone ever heard of this? Someone was telling me there's supposed to have been a few accounts of people in Bold Street temporarily experiencing the place as though it was in the past, complete with horse and carriages and whatnot.

The road in question is Bold Street, in Liverpool. And a 'famous' example reportedly took place in 1996 when an off-duty police officer, and a woman in her 20s, were quickly aware of everyone on the street wearing clothes from the 1940s and 1950s. A book shop also allegedly turned into an old clothing store, while a van from the '1950s' came 'racing past' the officer.

I've heard about it but it was the mid 90's, chances are they'd both just double dropped. 

 

As for Mathew Street, anything can happen down there (and often does).

I'm open to the idea that stuff like this, and ghosts, could be natural phenomena, like some kind of recording of the past made by light under specific conditions, similar to a photograph, which somehow loiters in the ether.

Also it was around that time that Goodnight Sweetheart was on telly and that's pretty much the premise. 

 

I reckon the two were almost caught having a bit and panicked so invented a story. Like coming home to your missus the next morning after a night on the lash "You're not gonna believe this" and just as you get to "and anyway he had this big Dr Who scarf on no shoes...." she slams the door.

Check out The Stone Tape. It’s quite good. Some fantastic 70s/80s misogyny in the script as well. Same writer as Quatermass.

Observational evidence is not evidence in a scientific sense but multiple witnesses of an event is significant.

Crime is different. You are an eye witness. If you are talking about time loops on Bold st eye witness is less important.
