Ben:I think we should be mindful about what happened to Man City on the way into the ground. No wonder they aren’t in their grove. It’s disgusting what’s happened

Mike: Wonder how much the events before the game affected City's first half performance? You could stop this by calling the game off and playing it at a neutral venue.

And it begins.

The idiots involved need done

But if they cant handle that how would they have mamaged in the 80s or in some of the big European derbies these days

Imagine these going to away to Galatasaray

In its own way the 2nd half was just as pleasing as the 1st.

VVD has made a massive difference to the whole defensive approach.

That was right up there with the best of them tonight.

Well said. That's what we were hoping for when we spent the money on VVD. Sometimes you have to stand strong and be resolute. It's usually needed even more, the further you go in the bigger competitions.

Credit to the whole back line. TAA was fantastic against Sane, who is a class player. Lovren did well, and Mad Dog Robbo was good. Again.

Absolutely buzzing after this.

Rest a few against Everton, beat them with a weaker team and laugh! Then finish the job at Man City, who will have their own silver lining as they lift the PL trophy against Man Utd. That would be a good week all round.

Play the U23s at Everton. I don't care if we lose, it'll show the utter contempt we have for an essentially meaningless league tie sandwiched between two much more important matches.

Don't think we even have a match thread for a derby in less than three days' time. Says it all.

I reckon Hendo knew exactly what he was doing with that booking. We need a goal away from home and then they need 5. I’d rather he miss this one than a semi. Fucking great tonight along with Milner.

As a few have mentioned the influence of VVD cannot be understated. Those free kicks we concede he’s barking at every cunt to not drop the line. He makes sure he’s the last man. Corners I’m just not arsed and the players aren’t any more either because we’ve got this fucking man mountain winning fucking everything.

Woodburn to score the winner against Everton!

We've never won a single game fairly and squarely have we? There's always something thrown in our faces.

This time it's the coach incident and Mo being offside.

Saturday it was Mane's alleged dive and his handball.

What next? Bobby's teeth blinding Pickford as he slots his 4th away?

My manager is a Chelsea fan and he  was giving me the old "Garcia's goal never crossed the line" shit this morning! I laughed so much!!

What a team performance.

Hunger and passion in the first half. A bit of professionalism, cleverness and guile in the second.

It was vitally important to keep a clean sheet. Tie isn't over though. They're a very good team.

TAA and Lovren were both great tonight. They all were.

I'm buzzing. A victory made even sweeter by a few salty blues and Mancs calling for us to be banned for a few dickheads throwing shit. The fuuuume!
