I completely disagree with you on the power thing, right now the trans thing is extremly powerful be that collectively or as shown in the topshop thing individually (and through fear of backlash due to power collectively!).

0.1% of the population having their say and getting fundamental changes made on their say so is powerful imo, disproportionately so I'd say.

This is a signifier of how things currently are politically, how many of those who are normally politically active wanted Trump, Brexit? It’s marginals and first time voters swinging these things. We have to vote to keep the A-rabs/ Romanians etc out. Everything is reactionary these days, media feeds the frenzy, the current British labour leadership appears to be proactive, but it’s fightimg a constant battle to react against the press and current governments lies and ambiguation.

Except none of the quotes in the article actually say that people born as a male can have periods.

Quote

"We believe that it’s important for all genders to be able to learn and talk about menstruation together… Our approach recognises the fact that some people who have periods are trans or non-binary."

Actually reading things is a wonderful thing. Whether you are for, against or indifferent to the idea of people being trans a girl who wants to be or feels they are a man can still have a fucking period.

Quote

Tory MP David Davies told The Mail on Sunday that it was "insanity" for teachers to tell pupils that transgender boys can have periods.

He said: "Learning about periods is already a difficult subject for children that age, so to throw in the idea girls who believe they are boys also have periods will leave them completely confused."

I'm fairly certain that this is not exactly an idea. Unless we're all wrong and all women have ever needed to do is throw on a pair of trousers once a month and then would never need to worry about having a period ever again.

Erm...

"menstruation must be inclusive of all genders".

The new advice follows a council report which said: "Trans boys and men and non-binary people may have periods", adding that "menstruation must be inclusive of all genders".

Girls who believe they are boys.

Not people born as a male, read every quote they give in that article and it's pretty clear what they mean.

And you know that yourself NV, you're more than capable of reading that and seeing what the quotes added together mean, rather than the one single line that can be used to provide a sensationalist headline.
