The amount of vitriol spewed at our manager throughout this thread is perplexing. And not just him, but his wife and daughter. Catch yourselves on and keep your celebrity private life exposés off this board.

Personally I hold Brendan's statement in higher esteem than the Sun and will contribute no further comments to this thread.

It pays to learn the difference between serious and not-so-serious.

Elisha's RAWKesque opprobrium highlights an interesting point.  The light joshing at Rodgers' expense is seen as acceptable because Rodgers hasn't really been taken to the collective bosom (yet).  We've gone through such a traumatic time re managers over the last 4 years or so, that even those who like him are being cautious.  They don't want to be hurt again.

I think it will be three years of tangible progression before Brendan is embraced even by those who are neutral towards him right now.

And probably another 18 months after that before Rodgers will be allowed to finger them.  Until then Brendan, the best you can hope for is titting NV up.

There were plenty of jokes back in the day during the Kenny-Beardsley rumours. It's what people do,

Is it that? Someone a bit less pompous might think it was rather more complex than that and would stop being so schoolmasterish about it all. I can't see many attacking Rodgers, most have  just been laughing at the story, so calm down and take a tablet.

Exactly people are taking the piss out of the story, noones on Rodgers back, obviously the speculation wouldn't be nice for him but its out there and people will talk about it.

Apparently this is what they're reporting -

Liverpool boss’s secret visits to love split mum

FOOTIE boss Brendan Rodgers has befriended a mum in the middle of a split from her Liverpool fan husband.

The Reds manager, a dad of two, is a regular visitor to the home of 31-year-old Charlotte Hind, previously a travel co-ordinator for the Premier League club.

She recently split with her husband of five years Steven, saying she wanted a divorce “as quickly as possible”.

Neighbours said married Rodgers, 40, has been parking his Porsche sports car near the £210,000 rented home Charlotte shares with her 15-month-old daughter Lola.

Witnesses in posh Birkdale, Merseyside, said he usually stayed for around 90 minutes and had visited early in the morning and evening.

Rodgers — who shares a mansion in Formby with wife Susan — is understood to have made at least 12 visits in the past month.

“I’m not sure what’s going on, but he’s been round to her house on a regular basis for the past few weeks. He parks round the corner and is pretty recognisable on Merseyside.”

Last night Northern Ireland-born Rodgers — previously in charge at Watford, Reading and Swansea — refused to say why he had been seeing Charlotte and denied anything improper. A spokesman for the manager said: “He is not and never has been in a relationship with Miss Hind.”

Approached by The Sun, Charlotte denied the boss had visited her detached home and claimed neighbours were “mistaken”. She said: “They must have got him mistaken with someone.”

Salesman Steven, 31 and a Liverpool season ticket-holder, was stunned to learn of his wife’s friendship last night.

So that's 36 minutes of sublime action and 1044 minutes of uncomfortable conversation and wanting to tell a little kid that's not yours to FUCK OFF.
