I think the second to last series was too Malcolm Tucker heavy. It was like they knew which bit people loved and went for more and more of it. Last series was better.

A lot of sense there from RIS, particularly use of the word series rather than season.

Agree that it's better with a bit less Malcolm Tucker. The less screen time he has, the more you look forward to his screen time, and the more effective the character is because of that. Glenn's speech? What a way to go!

I find politics based comedy a bit...dunno, it's just not my cup of tea, although I do think Armando is a genius, so I can't quite understand how I've managed to avoid every episode of every series.

Well, he's got two more series of Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle to help put together and produce for the BBC, that's something to look forward to.

 

And his book "The Audicity of Hype" is funny

One of the smartest, sharpest, very best comedy series ever. The greatest thing about the last episode was the depressing, numbing feeling it imbues you with. The old guard have blown themselves out, to be replaced by less talented, even less likeable apparatchiks peddling the same old shit, but with even less concern for the electorate. And of course the truth recedes into irrelevance.

 

Life imitates art imitates life. If you wanted a potted history of socio-political Britain since the late 70s, watch every series from the start. And the specials. Fantastic ensemble performances as well. Fucking brilliant.

Rolled through them today. It's been better and better every season; Inquiry was quite ballsy and it came off superbly well. It's a shame if there are no more to be made, but as has been said this is worthy of a place in any top 10 comedy list.
