"now let's say we get a few of the players we have been linked with in - the likes of Strootman (20m), Witsel (25m) and we go for Butland (30m) and VVD (30m), we buy Milik or Janssen for 15m

thats 120m spent, and probably looking at around 500k in wages (again a generous estimate)

leaves the club with 90m and 500k in wages still burning a hole in our lovely Iranians pocket, but no statement signing, just some very good ones that will make the team very competitive, say we then blow a 30m bid on Perisic (current flavour of the month after his Euro exploits and also a position we depserately need sorting) and we give him parity with rom on wages - so another 140k and 30m gone

we are then left with a 60m and 360 pw situation, to go out their and target a 'statement' signing for the club to propel us into the spotlight, go throw that at Madrid, offer them their asking price for James Rodriguez and see what they actually say when we slap the money on the table, and see what his agent says when we offer to double his current 110k pw wages.

Honestly it sounds mental even typing this out, but money talks in football, and if we are serious in making a statement then we couldn't make a bigger on than this"

The first four words of the last paragraph, I agree with

Happier times.

They’re scrabbling around for money. They’ve just sold one of their academy prospects to Chelsea for £4m, and lost a couple of others on frees.

Couldn't sign Coady for £4.5m due to financial restraints as well.

You wonder what the likes of their average players who could go elsewhere think of the whole situation. Pickford is a knobhead but he's seen as a decent keeper and will want to keep his spot in the England team. Onana will also want to win things or at the very least play in Europe and Gray would be a decent squad player elsewhere.

You wonder whether they can be bothered fighting relegation for a 3rd year running and dealing with the negativity surrounding the place.

Was this from the Esk?. He basically said there was unlimited money and that they could even sign Messi. Fast forward a few years and he's doing podcasts about relegation finishing them off as a going concern and the new stadium being taken over by a 3rd party for Everton to rent.

Now get down, get down, get down to Goodison Park!!!

The teacher of my son's class here in Dubai is an Everton fan born and bred in Liverpool. He told the class (year 5 kids) that the best day of his life was the day Gerrard slipped against Chelsea!

What a miserable life he must have lived!

Bet he loved 2020.

That is normal life for most of them.

He must have been too young to have seen their 1985 team play who would have won 30 European Cups but UEFA AND THE POWERS THAT BE LAD stopped them winning it all.

He claims to have been a season ticket holder for 25 years and followed them around the globe, so I guess you’re right … still too young to have witnessed better days!

Don't forget Lille away, where on current estimates about 250k of them were there!
