Yeah, well, that WOULD be preferable. Though instead of an out-and-out striker, I'd prefer someone who play just off the main striker, and drift wide, who can create. We have Suarez, Carroll and Kuyt who can play as line leader, so a little more nous behind them wouldn't go astray.

Given the current market wouldn't Sturridge be valued at 15m+ ? British, striker, young, 2 years left on contract, and he looked good on loan at Bolton. Doubt Chelsea would give us Sturridge + cash for Raul.

Swapping Raul for Yossi seems strange to me and it makes me think something is not right with Raul. His behaviour was very odd against Arsenal so maybe something is not right.

 

I would go back for Yossi to help with the squad and add creativity but not at the expense of Raul.

12m or so + Benayoun wouldn't represent bad business. It's pretty obvious that Meireles isn't going to be a regular starter, something he doubtless wants at this point in time. We make our money back and get a player with a similar penchant for nicking crucial goals.

 

Neither is going to dominate a midfield, which is what Chelsea really need, so I could definitely see the logic. We wouldn't be strengthening a rival substantially.
