Superb tonight, at fault for one of the goals but appart from that he ran the show. Kept going 'til the end and hopefully he was telling Drogba what a twat he is when they had a long conversation at the end of the game.

He misplaced a pass, but what the fuck was Aurelio doing just strolling behind him watching Lampard run into space and get a tap in.

What a fucking man. He was a gladiator tonight.

I never thought he would ever go up in my estimations but he couldn't be any higher after tonight.

I fucking love him.

He always seems to raise his game just that little more when Gerrard is out, superb performance tonight.

First and only player I've ever seen who almost every time can actually pick out a better pass than the one you're screaming out for from the stands / on the telly. Mental vision, and the skill to execute it all the time. And a shit-hot beard. What more can you ask for really!

If you'd have written this at half-time, I would have agreed. Unbelievable in the first half - that's what the man is all about. But second half, once Chelsea pushed up, he was nowhere near as effective (assist aside) - take off Masch (as Benitez insists on doing to our detriment - Athens 2007 anyone?) and Xabi isn't the same player.
