Back to back wins and the top four is suddenly a realistic target again. Great goals from Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo gave the Reds a dream start and although they failed to add further goals, despite the home side playing for over an hour with ten men, the three points keeps the momentum going following the derby win last week.

I’m hoping there was an element of ‘controlled victory w/o over-exertion’ in our second half performance, but I could well be kidding myself.

Even in our prime Euro / Title contending seasons before Covid, we had a habit of conceding late goals after demolishing the opposition.

Two clean sheets are pretty bloody good results.

I think that’s definitely what we were going for. We just weren’t that great at it. But that’s understandable - we’re in the middle of a mad season for everyone where pretty much everything prior to the derby (bar City and the 9-0 outlier) went wrong. Last week was a start that we’re need to build on.

In my defence, I make Jules look like the biggest sporting optimist in the world. I have been fully on board for the last 5 years. I have had my confidence dented significantly this season, and who wouldn't?

Also, every time I hear about Darwin and finesse, I just think of this:

"I suggest feather touch. You have entered POWER DRIVE."
