There's some people who really does think his shite smells like roses.  I'd understand it if he was a successful manager for us instead of someone whose clinging onto his job and won fuck all in his life.

Nah it's just a bit of human decency for the manager of Liverpool.

Fucking spare me. All the decent lads struggling to pay their rent should light a candle for him then, humbled in the face of their own adversity by the massive burdens the great man must carry...

Fuck him. The ethos of the club was once as red as its colors, even into the '90's. No need to support this house grubbing twat just because he's the manager.

Two issues are being intertwined here. Rodgers is not best liked by a lot of the fanbase, so it doesn't take much to stoke up the fire.

The housing thing is a serious political issue worthy of discussion. But while some are sticking the boot in on Brendan over this, bear in mind that Robbie Fowler (a hero to all Reds) has built up a property empire of his own over the years. I don't know if he owns more or less than Brendan, and neither do I know much about the investments of other 'heroes', past or present.

If we're bringing Shankly's socialist leaning into this, then I dare say most, if not all who are currently or even recently associated with the club, fall way short of that. It's a different world today. Football is awash with cash and even the lesser luminaries at a club like Liverpool are earning such vast sums that they are well out of touch with the life of an average fan.

Brendan is getting a bit of a kicking because many don't really like him and it is embarrassing that his marriage breakup is in the public domain, such that details like the property empire are coming out. But we should be careful, as I suspect most/all our heroes wouldn't pass muster if scrutinized in the same way.

What a load of shite. As Stringy says, having a laugh is alright but this is bollocks of the highest order.

Why doesn't Fowler get grief over doing the same thing?

Am definitely going to avoid reading through most of this thread, but agreed with most of that. If we're really going to take issue here and go the full way, it's probably best to dump the club completely and support A.F.C. Liverpool instead, which obviously isn't going to happen on any type of mass scale any time soon, just saying.

For one thing, he's not associated with the club the way that Rodgers is. For another, he property he bought was distressed almost beyond repair when he bought and refurbished it and, as far as I know, was not just cases of flipping houses after racking rent. If that's not the case, he can fuck off, too, though he at least supported Liverpool dock workers - something I can't imagine a company man like Rodgers doing.

I don't give a fuck about his personal life otherwise.

If he can survive jibbing his wife off of many years and moving in with a new family then i'm sure he can survive this. It doesn't make him any less of a manager being a property mogul and people saying they'll judge him by his results on the pitch are absolutely right, but you've got to admit it does sort of blow his 'man of the people' schtick out of the water, doesn't it?
