This lolly ice business is bad enough outwith the Scots getting involved with their strange ways.

Funny story from my brother on Sunday. He has a base in Leigh. One of the managers is Scottish and in detailing a job for one of the staff said, 'you'll be away a couple of days, you'll need a 'piece'(meaning sandwich) with you.' Local member of staff wondered what kind of job he was being asked to do that would require a gun.

He'll want more than one sandwich if he's going to be away for a couple of days, surely? Unless the sandwich is size A0.

I've just been informed by DimReaper that in Northern Ireland an Ice Cream is called a ' poke '. And also that the word weaker is interchangeable with brilliant over there. When you consider they also call a ' chippy ' a  'chipper ' and a ' fry up ' a ' fry ', then I think it's clear to see we've got a problem.

Evidence:

In northern ireland poke is another word for ice cream on a cone. so if offered a poke u are not being offered sex!
if you hear the term "pokie" this refers to the seller of the ice cream. usually in a van or other mobile stall.
"fancy a poke" "aye go on!"

"who wants a poke"

I'm thinking the 'poke' is the cone?

Here 'poke' is a bag.....as in 'a poke of chips'

And hence 'pig in a poke'

*FF on the GF alert - If you don't want to see the result, look away now*

I've recently seen a few of the Irish boys describing a free kick as just 'a free'. Someone needs to step in and clamp down on this shit before it gets out of hand.
