The Empire Strikes Back

Went out for my missus' birthday last night so was a bit knackered and a touch hungover. Sat on the sofa this morning and watched The Empire Strikes Back with my lad (first time he's seen in) then had bacon and eggs followed by leftover cake for lunch.

9.5/10

Loses the half point for clumsily making Leia out to be a bit of a girly wuss at times, when she's obviously a cool badass at others.

I'm not a big fan of Star Wars but that one for me is easily the best of the lot, it's just a fantastic sci fi film.

Watched "The Hit" on Kodi last night, boss British gangster film from the 80's starring Terence Stamp, John Hurt, Tim Roth is one of his first roles and this rather astoundingly proportioned Spanish girl. Superb.

The film was alright as well.

I just watched lion, based on seeing people in here say how good it was.

On Saturday morning I was up at 6 to travel to north wales, climb a mountain and get pissed in Bangor til 3am.

So tonight I put my girl to bed and climbed straight into the bath and through this on my iPad.

10 minutes in, when I realised it wasn't going to just be subtitled for the opening scene, I was pretty close to turning it off and swapping it for John Wick 2, as I just didn't think I'd have the energy to concentrate on it.

2 hours later I've just finished it, and my bow wrinkly digits are tapping away to tell you all that it's really, really good.

Enthralling and moving.

I had 3 or 4 proper, shoulder bouncing cries along the way.

Top stuff.

Just finished watching and was welling up but tears didn't spill. Lump in my throat though. Really well done to give a sense of the pain and frustration he felt plus all the other stuff he had to deal with.

9/10

Passengers. Not sure what to make of this, critics panned it no doubt because of the Stockholm Syndrome aspect of it but then it's got Jennifer Lawrence in the greatest swimsuit ever. I'll give it a 6.5/10 as it's an okay way to waste a few hours but does a slightly above average score mean I kind of condone stalking?

I think the critics were very harsh. Its a good film.

As long as you enjoyed it, that's the mane thing.

Arsenal. 3 Gooners out of 10.

Fuck me that was bad. I reckon the cast were trying to outdo each other for a Golden raspberry, fucking all round awful film.

T2

As a stand alone movie it was ok but it soils the memory of the original.

I think danny Boyle, the actors, the producer and the writer made this for themselves.

The bird in it is class though.

Agree OK as a standalone and enjoyed a few moments e.g. The proddy club but where it hits the mark imo is that if you were a similar age as the cast at the time of the original (although not much in common I.e. Not a Scottish heroin addict) some of the themes of regret, direction of life hit home a bit - maybe - good soundtrack as well

Was boring as fuck 5/10 (and 4 of those marks are for J Law who looked stunningly fit).

Think I was expecting a lot more from it given the reviews it had. I knew it wasn't gonna be the first one but I think anybody heralding it as a triumph is only because it's not absolutely terrible. It's fine but I didn't think danny Boyle made films that were fine anymore.

There were some very good moments. Robert Carlysle was the best thing about it. Just didn't do a lot for me overall. Didn't hate it, didn't love it. Doubt I'll ever watch it again.
