Did he ever come close to getting the job here? There were some rumours that we were interested when we went for the owl instead.

I can’t imagine so…that was post Man City (harsh though that sacking was) and a couple of short-lived jobs with Mexico and the Ivory Coast. As obviously terrible a fit as Hodgson was, he was a massive media darling after what was, in fairness, a really good stint at Fulham and I never got the impression anyone else was seriously considered.

Quickly moved on from the suggestion that England 1966 might have been his dream job.

Bit of a strange suggestion that he might have wanted to manage the 66 England team considering Sven didn't start managing until the late 70s. Also it's pretty well known that Sven is a red. These tv presenters haven't got a clue.

Towards the end of Rafa’s tenure, I think it was more him saying he supported us and linking himself to us, rather than the other way round.

Hadn’t he not long been sacked at Man City after a disastrous 2nd half of the season? Hodgepodge’s stock was on the rise at that point after his EL run with Fulham. His style would likely have been closer to Rafa’s, I can see why we went for the Hodgeosaurus at the time.

He should have done better in 2004 & 2006 with England. His biggest achievement was bobbing it into prime Ulrika Johnson, despite being 19 years her senior.

A few people on Twitter saying they should offer him the chance to manage us in the legends game in March.

Owen, Heskey, Barmby, Murphy & Gerrard are all certain to play if so.

Carra will be dropped for Ledley King.

Who’ll play for 5 minutes, sneeze and be fucked for the rest of the year.

Absolutely horrendous bellendery. What’s wrong with some people?

If my memory serves me right, Leicester were particularly bad for the “always the victims” stuff, particularly at a League Cup game. Hopefully seeing horrendous shite like this might make them partake in some self reflection.

Funnily enough Nancy Del Olio is on some cookery school programme.

An odd one, used to go from pantomime dame to Yes Please in the turn of a camera angle.
