We need Keita NOW. How likely are they to qualify from their CL group, I haven’t looked.

At the minute they're in 3rd place and going into the Europa league. They're level on points with Porto but both teams have played each other twice and both got one victory each against each other so its goes to GD.  Currently sitting 2 goals behind Porto on GD.

Porto play bottom of the table Monaco next at Home were as Red Bull have to play table toppers Besiktas.

Porto should win that game.  Already beat Monaco 3 nil away from home.

Cheers mate. Hopefully they’re out of it then.

Ralph Rangnick has already said he’s not going until the summer because he wants Keita to help them qualify for the CL this season

Rangnick says a lot of things, I read the other day that Keita really tried pushing the move in the summer and he sulked for the first few weeks of the season because his heart wasn’t in it, a bit like Coutinho. If they’re out of the CL and he pushes for it again you never know.

Naby Keita 'wants Liverpool move now' and could secure January transfer

NABY KEITA is fed up at RB Leipzig and wants to move to Liverpool when the transfer window reopens, according to a leading German football expert.

Keita, 22, agreed a move to Liverpool over the summer but has to wait until July 2018 to make it.

But Lee Price, who has written two books on the Bundesliga, claims Keita is desperate to change the terms of the deal.

That follows Leipzig being dumped out the Champions League while a title tilt hasn't got off the ground.

"The Naby Keita transfer saga had appeared to resolve itself – the midfielder was due to move to Liverpool in the summer, and that’s that," Price exclusively told Express Sport.

But the Guinean himself might have a say in the matter.

"Leipzig’s novelty is wearing off – they’re fifth in the Bundesliga this season, and have been demoted to the Europa League, where they face a tough tie against Napoli.

"For Keita, the challenge has almost gone, and he ideally wants to move to Liverpool now.

"The player doesn’t intend to rock the boat hugely in Leipzig, and is relishing the winter break in Germany, but his camp is expected to push for a move upon his return to training in January."

Keita was Jurgen Klopp's No 1 target throughout the close season but he was left frustrated as RB Leipzig said he was going nowhere.

However, Liverpool were so desperate to get their man they entered talks in a deal which would see the player join a year later.

Keita had an exit clause of £48million in his contract but Leipzig were prepared to negotiate to secure an additional premium, taking the fee potentially beyond £50m.

Liverpool had earlier bids of £57m and £66m in an effort to force an immediate sale.

The huge fee is the highest the club have ever paid.

Interesting.

It'll never happen, but this and the VVD thing at Southampton really does fly in the face of the whole "new paradigm" that people have been talking about where the clubs have all of the power all of a sudden and don't have to do what players demand.

You can hold a player under contract all you want to, but I think what this is going to do is to show that when you have an unhappy player, you have a player who is not guaranteed to perform. That will make teams think twice when deciding to turn down big offers from clubs the players want to go to.

I'm sure if Southampton could go back in time and accept a 70m bid from us in the summer they would, much as their fans would complain. They could have had a couple of good attackers from that and their backline would be exactly where it is now, seeing as VVD is barely playing (and not playing well when he's in).

Like I say, a January move for Keita is never going to actually come off, but Leipzig's underperformances this season with an unhappy star player are surely going to come into their minds next time it comes to a negotiation like this.

This and the Keita thing also show big a cunt both players are for not showing any loyalty to their current clubs(if these reports are anywhere near the truth of course) and why its so easy to unsettle our own players when the likes of Barca say they want them. If they do this at their current clubs then what's to say they wont do it here?

Modern football is shit and full of cunts.

While I agree, I've long accepted that players who do well here will eventually attract attention and be moving on the point is though to get that they need to be doing very well to get those moves.

what it does show is that the players are at least determined to get what they want and have set high standards for themselves hopefully that desire will translate onto the pitch and rub off on a few of our shrinking violets we've been far too nice for far too long and we're crying out for a few cunts.

As you say modern football is full of them so it's not like we can avoid them.

I do doubt Kieta and VVD will join in this window though but if they did it'd be a huge boost allowing us to concentrate on our many other weaknesses.

If by some miracle we can pull off the Van Dijk deal and get Keita in early that’s the best January business we’ve done since Coutinho and Sturridge. Get them two in and sign De Vrij and Goretzka on pre-contracts and we’re in a great position next year with no money spent (Coutinho fee), if we replace Coutinho now with Lemar we’d only really need a keeper and potentially a striker if the right one is available, otherwise Firmino is more than good enough.
