Great ,but little known original versions, of classic songs.

I'm putting my reputation of being really "street" and "down" at risk here, but until recently I didn't know this was a cover version:

I once heard what I thought was the original by seminal soul-funk combo The Sugar Babes in what young people call a "discoteque", and thought it was an original vocal line over a "sample" of Graham Newman's Our Friends Have Electric Cars.  But it was, apparently, a "smash up".

We live and learn, travellers, we live and learn.

Akin to one of the many times I put the kettle on for a cup of tea, go back into the other room to watch something and realise an hour later that I had intended on making a brew.

Some brilliant choices above, well done folks.

This is another one, particularly poignant that the two songwriters ended up committing suicide after their Management ripped them off,and they never received the massive royalties that they should have received.

Excellent choice. Great band - "Baby Blue" just rips me to shreds every time.

I just put the radio on for a few minutes and I heard Paul Jones talking about the early days of Manfred Mann.  He mentioned that the record company had suggested they do more cover versions, so he thought  about "Do Wah Diddy" by The Exciters.

Wha-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-at????

I never knew this existed.
