Doni and Jones to leave and be replaced with De Vries from Wolves?

Liverpool set to sign Dorus de Vries from Wolves | Mail Online

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is poised to sign Wolves goalkeeper Dorus de Vries in a £750,000 deal.

The move for another former Swansea player comes as the Welsh club reacted angrily to details of midfielder Joe Allen’s contract clause becoming public.

Sportsmail revealed Liverpool are to sign Allen for £15million and the deal is to be completed after the Olympics.

A Swansea statement read: ‘The club are extremely disappointed that speculation regarding aspects of his contract have been released by parties outside the club.’

De Vries, 31, joined Wolves on a free transfer last summer.

Liverpool are expected to off-load keepers Brad Jones and Alexander Doni.

What were the wages between Doni and Jones? More reducing the bill, perhaps?

As an aside, one would expect it is a sign that Reina will be hanging around if the 2 reserve keepers are being replaced by one.

its definately wages if we're getting rid of Doni we won't get a better sub keeper than him, and if we do get rid of him and Jones don't waste money on another keeper who's got no chance of ever doing anything for the club, stick Gulacsi on the bench or get a promising young one fairly cheap like we did with Carson

Yeah, keep Doni, move Jones on to free up wages, then have a youngster as 2nd keeper.

The odds of needing 3 keepers in as many days, as happened last season is about as remote as the chances of hitting the woodwork again that many times.

(BTW this is not an invitation for all you maths nerds to try and prove me wrong with probability stats, etc.)

Going on Gulasci's performance last night, he'd be the best option for the bench, that is if we are talking about freeing up money from wages.

echo reporting that we want simon kjaer (not bad although must been the turtle is off) and de vries ! no thanks !!!!

If skrtel wants to go and we get 20 million for him and Kjaer costs no more than 7 million then I dont think thats the worst news... 13 million on a creative bastard please. or a defensive midfielder.

and ... has anyone noticed we dont have any decent cover for enrique? who was worryingly shit last night by the way....

Enrique has been worringly shit since November last year. He is world class in some areas, but utter garbage in others. All in all thats not good enough.

any chance of you signing him from us and giving us assou-ekoto? and bale while your there cheers mate.

I think Kjaer could be good and he showed that during the Euros but he's certainly a risk.

If Skrtel wants out then let him go but 25m should be the minimum given the teams that want him and that he was our player of the year last year.
