Andy Carroll, what does he do?

I said at the time he was a complete and utter waste of money and I also remember being shouted down etc., for my view.

Hate to say but told you so.

Fuckwit.

The Lad is a worse footballer than grant holt, the though of what we could have done with that 35 million grates at me everyday

I'd hire 3,500 hitmen at 10 grand each to take out whoppers like you two.

I appreciate the sentiment but surely, it would be better to just hire 2 hitmen at say, 100k to take out both of them and then keep the change from 35 million for other signings. Just saying.

Especially as, how would 3,500 hitmen be able to all do the job when there are only 2 vics? You'd have 3,498 of them just sat there twiddling their thumbs.

Well, you know, I didn't put that much thought into it.

The guy has played maybe a thousand minutes of football for us and people are writing him off already. What would they have said about Ian Rush, the mind boggles.

Get with the programme, Suarez gets 12 shots on goal today, a premier league record for 1 player and fails to score but that's ok. Carroll gets 1 chance and despite only playing 12 minutes of the last 2 games we dropped points in he's the reason we dropped them.

Carroll will be and should be ripping with himself, he should have scored. He had one chance but he should have scored. So in that case he was poor. Suarez should have scored but we cannot rely on him all the time, someone else has to step up and that is not happening

That's right, destroying Carroll because he missed one chance in the handful of minutes he was on at the arse end of the game instead of the rest of the team who missed about 400 between them in the previous 80 minutes. Lucas move over, we have a new scapegoat!

Hold on a second. Henderson is the new scapegoat around here.

Or because he’s a shit footballer who we spend £35million on. Do you realise how much £35million in football is? Think of the players that have moved around for the same/less money since Carroll since last summer.

I can’t help but think we could have had 1-2 world class footballers for the same money we spent on somebody who isn’t even a good prospect. He’s shite and will remain shite until he’s back at Newcastle scoring the odd header and getting pissed with the fans.

Amazing isn't it? In a game we should've been out of sight in, people can find a scapegoat in someone who missed one chance right at the death. Suarez palyed well and was a handful all day, but how many chances did he squander? You could make an argument that his 'selfishness' cost us 3 points. Ridiculous.

Carroll isn't a scapegoat, he just isnt good enough.

He doesnt offer anything apart from lumbering around.

So people dredging up this thread after he's played ten minutes in our last two games are making an observation on how he's playing rather than having a random swipe at him after a poor result? Yeah, right. Sure.

The sad thing is Caroll should be doing what Holt did yesterday. When he came on, he was pain in the arse for your defence. Not only did he score, the way he was winning headers, holding up the ball and using his size to push defenders away......thats what you want from Caroll and he's not doing it.

The question should be why isnt he doing these basic things you want from a 6'4 centre forward. Is he being told not to by the manager and is essentially playing a game that doesnt suit his strengths or is he simply not listening?

Caroll will never be a world class striker, but he can be pain the arse for opposition defenders and create havoc which other players should benefit from. He needs to get back to basic and show he wants to succeed. Another thing is when you are out of form, you have to work your way out of it, put more effort, make more runs etc etc. but he's just static

12 shots on goal without scoring a premier league record apparently
